So what do you do.. when you child is sick..?? go to work..?? bring her to work..?? or stay home with her..?? I’m no saint .. of course to drop everything .. and be with Chloe. We go to work for abit.. if she is up to it.. and then she comes home with me to rest. I don’t do any work on the net .. unless absolutely necessary.. and even then.. it had to be when she is sleeping. My online assignments gotta wait. Nothing is more important than to take care of my baby. What about you..??

  1. My son, Kaelen, is 6 this year and was in the hospital for 3 nights and 4 days recently. I did put my work on hold whilst my hubby continued with his. I’d go to the hospital in the morning but leave at night, around 1 or 2 am when I got him to snooze. We wanted him to learn how to be brave and to sleep on his own. He’d be ok but when he woke up one of those nights, he was pretty inconsolable and the nurse called me so he could speak to me. =) He was cheered when I told him I had left him secret notes all over his bed that spells “SHMILY” - See How Much I Love You? =D The acronym popped up not because we are acronym-loving Singaporeans, but because it was part of a story I once read to him that he made me repeat on loop ALL night a few times =D It spoke about a couple who played this game all throughout their lives to leave SHMILY around the house for their spouse to see. =) Very sweet.

The next day, when I arrived at KKH, he was all smiles because he had found SHMILY all over his bed, under his pillow, in his books, on his water bottle and even on the tag of his toy bunny =D

  4. Being a mummy is tough eh… our job never ends…and when children fall sick, it becames even tougher. I have just returned to part-time work in the corporate world and everyone in the family is adjusting to the change…i miss my mornings with my youngest the most.

  5. You’re lucky mamabok, there are working moms who doesn’t have the luxury to drop everything to be with their child when their sick. I’m lucky too,:) I’m not working.

I hope Cloe is a lot better now.

  6. Oh dear…what happened to the area under her nose? So red from having a cold? I’m guessing it’s the rubbing?

The nature of my job does not allow me to apply for emergency leave that easily. Unless my child is very sick, I would ask my husband to take care of him. Not much of a choice.
