Today, I received a comment on this blog from Cooknengr .. and knowing that he normally doesn’t comment.. i took a quick look at it.. to find out the most awesome news . . he can give me to rejoice and end 2008 with a lot of laughter and joy. You see love can happen online .. but it has to be .. like FF & Cooknengr who came to know each other online .. and work hard on their relationship… and finally tying the knot. I’m truly happy for them and proud of them for overcoming so many obstacles together to get where they are right now. Unlike some that i’ve met/seen online .. or those i know personally in this town. .where folks jump into a relationship without even knowing anything about the other person. Some I know pack and move to another country .. without planning or knowing what they are getting themselves into (Kahwin cowboy type). Unfortunately, i cannot call that love . .and in fact disapprove of it myself.

Love comes in different form. . but love needs a strong foundation. Without that strong foundation and understanding of each other, the cultural differences, you are just aiming for break up… in the future. May not be near. .but it will come. So yes.. you can find love online.. but like i said.. in any kind of relationship.. it’s an uphill task.. what more a marriage.. a relationship so in such close proximity. One needs to know not only the good .. but the bad.. and be able to accept it.. and lived with it. So here’s to FF & Cooknengr..!!! A happy and blissful marriage .. and everlasting love to 2 very adventurous bloggers that I’ve come to know for a long time. Both of you really, really made me so happy for you and boy..!! can you two keep a secret..!!!!!

But yes, she loved all her presents.. and PB and I didn’t get much for each other, I know he tried.. but i’m a very hard person to buy presents for. I let you guess what he got for me eh.

There is no denial of the fact that Chloe learned a lot from school. From singing to drawing and even becoming very independent. For the last 2 days, she didn’t need us to clean her poop, unlike a few weeks ago. I’m truly amazed that she picked up so much from a mere 4 months in school. She enjoys her craft work a lot and as you all can see, she had a lot of Christmas ornaments made by herself in school and it is now hanging on our tree.

We are still contemplating if we should pull her out now.. and put her into Grade primary again next year, where she will be more prepared after doing 6 months in pre-school. We’ll have to see after visiting the 2 pre-schools tomorrow, weather permitting for it is storming here. So who is George Washington to Chloe..?? since she keeps singing his name in one of the Christmas song learned in school.

My mother used to say that the womens’ money is the easiest to make besides kid’s money. I know she is right because when do we ever get stingy on buying stuff for our kids right..?? likewise, women of all ages, would go to great extend to keep themselves looking vibrant and feeling awesome. You do too right..?? Well, I speak for myself and I’ve always wanted to learn the trade of becoming an esthetician.. had i not gone into the hotel industry.

A storm is heading towards the Maritime.. and i know that many parts of Canada.. is already experiencing it as I type. We’ve always been lucky.. but you can’t be lucky all the time right..??

This week .. i was so distracted.. by what i saw at Chloe’s school.. that when i left the school grounds.. i went into someone else’s car. Muahahahhaha!!! yup..!! have you done that before..?? the car right at the back of our red Ford Focus.. was red too.. but i wasn’t even thinking.. and walked right up to the car.. and wanted to go into the car. Luckily, PB asked me.. “what are you doing..??” from his side of the car.. and then i realized what happened… muahahhaha!!! too funny..!! I bet the guy in the guy must be thinking.. “wats the crazy chinese woman doing..?? ” Quite the embarrassing.. even more embarrassing then thinking my diet pill was vitamins. But that is another story for another day.

Sorry , I haven’t been posting, there is just too much to do, before Christmas. The store is constantly busy.. and quite overwhelmed when PB isn’t around in this store (if you know what i mean). Anyhow, this year .. i told PB .. that his mission is to keep his promise to Vien from United States. So here, you see PB going thru’ boxes to find the perfect fit for his mission.

I kid you not.. when i tell you he was going thru’ packing boxes.

So he found one..!! hurry..!! part of his mission completed.. but not 100% yet.

There you go.. all done and gone into the mail ALREADY..!! UNBELIEVABLE..!!! The rest of my gifts were bought online.

Sorry, I haven’t updated for a few days, it had been crazy busy here. With Chloe in school now, she is like a social butterfly, invited for birthday parties.. after birthday parties. On top of it, I am actively raising fund for her school playground & library and supporting her school Home & School Fundraising .. with selling tickets for the Wii. So far we have sold 60 books, 3 tickets a book, so you see how busy we have been.

On the business front, it had been crazy here, everyone looking for presents for Christmas.. we never got a breather the whole week, our store is packed. And of course, there is this thing going on with the lobster fishermen in town that we are encouraged to have lobsters instead of turkey this Christmas. Yes at $3/pound.. you can’t really blame the fishermen and the owners to be upset but having said that.. the fishermen are always whiny regardless.

Presents are arriving for Chloe from all over the world and I haven’t got a chance to sort it out yet and take pictures of. The latest is from Anna in the USA .. thank you for the bento set, I haven’t had a chance to take a picture of it since we are open even on Sundays - The boss is a slave driver - i tell everyone .. hahahahha!!! I’ve resorted to using Etsy or any online store to send presents, from the Body Shop to David’s cookies etc. So if i missed out.. please don’t hate me. On the other hand, i put PB on task to keep his promise to Vien .. from a year ago, i berated him Vien, so I will have a post up .. to show you .. he even packed it up already today.. hhahahahahahah1!! be surprised Vien..!!! We never forget, just so busy .. running a business and having a kid in school. And I cannot thank my sponsors and advertising company enough for the many jobs they give me. My sincerest thanks..!! PS : I am also busy campaigning to get “The Y’arc” to move to downtown Yarmouth, to save the downtown businesses and homeowner and their interest. My submission for a move for the town council to consider their locality needs to be in by 18th, so you see I am busy.

I don’t do any work on the net .. unless absolutely necessary.. and even then.. it had to be when she is sleeping. My online assignments gotta wait. Nothing is more important than to take care of my baby. What about you..??

Well.. that was a long time ago, i learn to control myself a lot after becoming a mother. Is there someone who had touched your life and you lately..?? around this year..?? Have you thought about doing something back for them.. to let them know that you appreciate what they’ve done..?? Many people touched my life this year, I am grateful to a lot of people and don’t know where to start to repay them for their kindness. But I know .. that by sending a card or a small ornament this Christmas.. for them to put on their tree, would make them happy to know that we appreciate them. Many people are amused and fascinated when they learn that PB and I actually met on the internet some 14 yrs ago. They often ask me whether online relationships work? When they said.. “Wait till she goes to school.. you will have her coming back sick every other week” .. and they are so NOT kidding .. i tell yer..!! Chloe had just recovered less than a week.. and she is down with a cold again. What a shame..!! just when she is ready and not fussing to go back to school.. she had to get sick..

Like any parent.. we are going to do the right thing.. and not let her go to school and spread her germs. But having said that.. how many other parents would do the same eh..?? Today, when we sent Chloe to school.. her class teacher.. just came back from a cold too.. and her voice was definitely still very hoarse. Poor teacher..!! wait a minute..!! Poor Chloe more..!!

For those that know me for years now must be wondering .. why I am not in business or buying some kind of franchises, since my plan when i first arrived was to get into some kind of “Body Shop” business. But when I made enquiries about it, Body Shop in Canada wasn’t selling any kind of franchise and they had said they will inform me if they do. For the last few years, i haven’t even thought about it till .. Chloe went to school.. and started having invites for birthdays. I also read about some funding with the government here.. and think that come the new year, i may have a new venture.. but first I’ll have to speak with another mother that i met .. at Chloe’s school. She isn’t from here you see.. so i can definitely see some potential in this new adventure of mine. Wish me luck eh.

I haven’t been to a Christmas dance since coming to Canada. Truth be told .. i missed the Christmas partying at home..and the many invites.. i get from friends and business associates. Dressing up.. and preparing for the big night.. was the “in” thing for us.. back home. .when i was working.. and if i wasn’t home… but working overseas.. you can be sure.. that i would also get invited.. for various parties. The men all in their tuxedo and the ladies all in their ballroom gown. I have a little black dress i left back home.. and this Christmas.. i sure missed that dress. What about you ..?? what are you doing this Christmas..??

It was after dinner .. and i was in the kitchen getting something for Chloe.. since she didn’t wanna eat the peaches.. that i had bought specially for her. She tried it . .and spit it out. Yup..! very fussy eater..!! that girl..!!! Anyhow.. i was in the kitchen. .and asked her.. “You want yogurt . .Chloe..??” .. no reply. I asked again.. “you want yogurt Chloe..??” .. and yes.. she replied this time.. she said.. “Weee”.

For those who are not aware of this.. Chloe is in French Immersion in Grade Primary School.. and she doesn’t count her 1,2,3s in English these days.. but does not hesitate to count them in French. I bet her teacher would be really pleased to know that she answered me in French. Pretty awesome..!!

As you all know, Keegan (our babysitter) will be going away to nursing school next year. I’m sure you also know that we treat Keegan as family and therefore I am on the look out for some private student loans to help bridge the gap with the loan she is already getting from the government. Keegan, being a smart girl, had started saving for her nursing school a while ago but you and I know that when you are away from home, there are lots of expenses incurred.

Up to a few months ago, my Chloe had never used a real scissors to cut anything before. She did use those craft scissors .. but not the real/sharp ones and because we are always busy at the store and can’t watch her like a hawk if she uses the scissors on her own, we didn’t want to take the chances of her losing her pinkie or a thumb. Yes, I admit we are slacker parents.

Two weeks into school, her teachers called for a meeting in regards to her lack of motor skills, in which we tried to explain that Chloe had no idea how to maneuver the scissors at all…. not because she is lack of motor skills .. but because we never let her use it before.

So here we are .. 3 months into school.. and she can use the scissors perfectly well.. and cut her snowman really well.. as you can see in the above picture.

All done within a few mins. And she said this to me.. when i asked her to look up for a picture. “But mama, children need to be careful when they are using their scissors, I can’t look up now..! For soon ok..??” muahhahahahaha!!! how cute is that..?? and pretty smart as well eh.

Christmas is just around the corner and boy is it coming fast! I was at the mall this morning and the place was packed! I was out of breath and the traffic was horrid. Yes ! Christmas is here, there’s no denying it now. And like any wife/mummy, we are now in a frenzy to try and get ready for this once a year celebration. Well.. Thursday came and went.. and we are at Friday today. Chloe’s form teacher was sick since yesterday.. and it got me more worried today.. because I was afraid that the relieve teacher didn’t know what was going on. And fearing that Chloe might stumble again.. I decided to quickly ask the relieve teacher if she knew about Chloe’s special need for the bathroom help, in which she replied she did. As i was walking outta the school, i took another look at Chloe. .and she had my photo frame on her desk and staring at it. *sob*… oh it breaks my heart.

During break time at about 10.15am, we were at the school to visit.. and they didn’t get to eat inside the class like they always do.. and in the end.. Chloe didn’t get to run around at all, she only had time to finish eating. I was devastated. *sigh*. Maybe, we are wrong to push her to school so early, she is barely 5 yrs old.. and doing what a 6 or 7 years old is doing. I feel like a really bad mother right now and i’m so not kidding.. coz’ as I’m writing this.. i’m sobbing as well. This is so hard .. we want what is best for her.. but i really feel she may not be ready for the pressure.. and the long separation from us. I am seriously considering taking her out .. and putting her in pre-school for the rest of the year. Heart breaking .. to see her so longing for me.

My girlfriend from Australia sent a UGG Mayfaire that i had wanted to buy for ages now .. and it came as surprised to me.. because I didn’t know she was sending it. I cannot thank her enough for it.. because it was not cheap at all.. and I couldn’t get it over here.. in Yarmouth. For those who don’t know what a UGG is.. they are boots made of sheep skin and absolutely comfy and keeps you warm during winter and during the holiday season. I love it..!! And she doesn’t want me to have her name printed here.. she’s shy wor..

As you all know .. we have been having a little trouble with chloe wanting to go to school. Even though today was not such a bad morning.. we have been quite worried about it. And like any parent.. we try to her every whim and fancies.. because we didn’t want to stress her anymore than she already is.

But the girl sure knows how to manipulate us.. as I came to realize this evening. She would ask for junk food, from chips to french fries.. and then lollipop or a Simpsons tv show .. even some english saddles for the horse that Santa was gonna bring her this Christmas. Now of course, at that time.. i agreed.. but after this evening… i realized that i shouldn’t be doing this.. because then she knows we are gonna try and bribe her to go to school.

So tonite.. i’ve decided.. that if Chloe cannot cope in school .. after her Christmas break.. i’m gonna pull her out.. and send her to pre-school.. and wait for another year .. before sending her again. Afterall, it is not fair to the poor kid right..?? so if she is not ready.. she is not ready. I’ve already spoken to 2 pre-schools today.. no thanks to PB (for he was put to tasks for more than 2 years for it).. and am ready to move chloe once Christmas is over.

This morning.. we had a little bit of crying.. but she was alright.. after we reached school. At recess time, we went to visit her.. although PB stayed in the car.. for most of the time .. go figure..! Anyways.. i also got to see some of the things.. that Chloe had been telling me about .. with her school friends.. and how one would pull on her jacket.. to not let her slide down the slide. I was there when it happened.. and Chloe looked at me helpless. I guess one of the reasons she didn’t like school that much was the rough play.

To some parents.. it is ok.. because their kids can handle it. But chloe had never learned to play rough with anyone… so i think i must come as a shock for her. And when chloe first told me about it.. I had told Chloe what to say to her friend.. if she did that.. but Chloe didn’t want to say anything to her friend.. and had asked me to talk to her friend’s mother. Once again, I’m gonna have to bring this up to her form teacher today or tomorrow… when i see her.

Many of you must know that I met PB online .. over the internet. We spoke for 6 years online before we met.. and the following months just happened.. and i stayed in Canada.. ever since. Well.. i came to visit first.. went home.. he came to Singapore to visit.. and we went back to Canada together. Yes.. but I have a secret..!

Before we even met.. my computer broke down.. and i wanted to get a new notebook computer because i was traveling a lot. And guess what..?? PB was the one who sent me $1K .. to get my notebook. Some 14 yrs ago, $1K was a lot of money.. and to wire $1K to someone whom he haven’t met.. i must say.. he must have had been in love eh..?? muahahahahh!! yes .. he is a good man..! And it’s his birthday today..!!! yes..! and PB is younger than I by 8 yrs.. he is 36 today. Chloe was invited for a birthday party on Saturday .. a day before her own.. and we sent Keegan to go with her, it was at Jungle Jims. But I had forgotten to give Kate an extra flash memory and the camera she had with her ran outta space to store new pictures.. so we ended up having only a few. Poor me .. i was really hoping to get loads of pictures to post up. Didn’t even get the picture of the birthday cake. We had a somewhat good morning this morning.. and only had to visit the princess once at school.. at about 10.15am.. to bring her lunch. We didn’t go at lunch.. but she knew that.. we had explained to her the reason. We also had a meeting with her principal, her form teacher, her guardian counselor, her speech therapist, another teacher who had helped during these difficult few weeks.. to brain storm how we can help with Chloe’s anxiety for not wanting to go to school.

We figured it was toilet related.. so all of us.. are trying to do everything we can.. to help her along. One of the things .. the principal had mentioned was to wait another year.. to see if she would be more ready then.. in which we had agreed to wait .. till after Christmas.. and we will go from there.

And tonite .. she never mentioned a word about not wanting to go to school. I think maybe.. we were pushing her too hard at home as well. So we are gonna back off for abit.. and wait it out.

I don’t know if it’s a growing older thing or what, but I sometimes cannot help but think of my university friends that I’ve lost contact with. Each time I travel to the United States I’d always take up the phone book and try looking for them but to no avail. For some I still do have their old phone numbers but I can’t seem to locate them in order to keep in touch.
