Firstly, I have to tell you.. there were nothing they said .. that we did not already know about Chloe. Secondly, it is not that Chloe is slow .. that she is not doing certain things at this point of her life… moreso, because we didn’t teach her certain things. Thirdly, although we do agree with most of the things her teacher said to us today.. there are some stuff, we feel that they may be expecting too much from a kid who is barely 5 yrs old, youngest in her class, haven’t been to pre-school .. and have slacker parents like us.

There are always things that a child can do better and excel of course but to compare chloe with other kids not quite her age and in a different environment.. than i think it is not quite right. Take for example a kid who is 2 months older than chloe ..and has siblings like 4 or 5. Her parents are always at work, she is left at daycare most days. Firstly, this kid is gonna to be a lot more independent and quicker with eating .. and is probably taught about not having to do anything with strangers or anyone remotely not familiar. On the other hand, Chloe is sheltered .. always at work with us.. or have Keegan to look after .. and only child. Never have to fight for her food, tv or games… or anything else. So there is a difference! on the same note, the teacher should factor in all these into consideration .. with the example that i had given. I shall elaborate more on it .. in another post.

Keegan, she is shopping for her prom dress now.. and prom is in May 2009. The one she is interested in . .is $500 .. and they are not for rental. By the time the night is over.. she would be at least $1000 poorer. Why..?? well .. first thing first, the dress for $500. She and her friends will be booking a limo.. and then a hotel room.. to store their stuff. Ok.. now the hair.. and then her make up. .and the accessories.. that goes with her dress… and what about her shoes..?? and the many pictures she is gonna take..?? Easily ..$1000 there.. see what i mean.. it’s not easy being a kid here.

And I know many of you are wondering how i do it..?? watch 3 chinese shows a day.. and look after Chloe .. when she comes back from school.. revise with her, her school work.. and play with her.. cook for her.. do the dishes.. and then bathe her.. and then put her to bed.. and then cook for her lunch to bring to school after she sleeps… on top of everything .. help PB at the store… and then gotta do my writing as well.

What’s the secret ..?? everyone asked. So what is my secret..?? Well.. PB does help a lot both at work and at home. I would do the cooking.. but he would be doing the cutting up of the chicken and marinating it. If he cuts.. i washed the cutting boards and stuff.. and when i cook .. i will ask him to wash up the frying pan.. or he can do the packing away the lunch for the next day.

And of course, I am very lucky to have Katelynn who comes in a few days a week.. to help me for a few hours with Chloe.. while i do my work or watch my shows. These days, I know i can count on Kate .. to come in whenever i need her.. so if i have a lot of writing.. to do .. I don’t have to worry about Chloe… and PB does give special attention to Chloe if i am busy. As for watching all my shows..?? I don’t normally get to watch everything at once, I stop when i am busy.. and then continue when i am not.. or wait till chloe goes to bed. So yes.. one can do everything.. but multi tasking .. may not be for everyone. I keep reminding myself.. that I shouldn’t sweat the small stuff.. and break everything up in phases to work on. What’s your secret..??

A lot of things changed after coming to Canada. Once upon a time, i would never thought i would use a used monitor or just about anything used.. but Canada changed me.. or rather PB did. In the business of used games, used systems .. and used cisco, now i am not so repulsive about using anything used or what we called back home “second hand”. Truth be told, if possible, we would do “used” everything in our business if we can. Reason..?? the profit is good.. and the cost is low.. and even if they don’t work well.. PB loves to mess around with them abit. So it’s works anyways.

Yes..that was what the brat told me yesterday morning.. when i had to wake up with her.. at 7.30am.. and let PB go back to sleep .. since she didn’t sleep the whole nite. So this was what she did to get my attention.. but since she knew i would freak right out. . if she hurt herself.. she warned me in advance.

Chloe was invited to an early Halloween party by her classmate Ashley last nite. But it was only yesterday.. that she decided on what she wants to dress up as .. for Halloween.. and poor daddy.. had to rush out to buy her .. her costume.. as well as her accessories.

A princess she was .. and she was loving it. She had a blast.. unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos for the party.. because i didn’t go with her, it was Keegan who accompanied her.. for the party.

She was still excited last nite.. when she came home and talked about it this morning… when she woke up. Chloe’s social calendar is looking really full these days. Ahhh.. the JOY of going to school. And we cannot thank the Paulick family enough.. for including chloe in their activities.

How i long to go home.. and to those of you .. who knows me… you know that this is as good a time to go .. as any. For years.. i had put everything of the spouse’s before myself… but i long to go home.. so much.. it sometimes gets very bad. Yes..!! i go crazy at times.. and poor PB .. gets the hard part of it. Plus going home with Chloe means more travel insurance we have to look into.. and since she is already 4.9 months.. her seat on any airplane is gonna be of an adult fare. The Four Episode 24 will be out tomorrow. A lot of people had asked me at my entertainment blog.. why the are seeing it posted as The Four Episode 23 but the movie itself said 24 .. that’s only because there is a vcd version of it.. and i get whichever one that is the fastest. So don’t fret like me .. and think that i needed more laptop memory because sometimes, i used the laptop to watch The Four TVB Series.

Whenever PB goes to school and pick Chloe up after school, she usually wants to stay for abit.. and play in the playground. It is perfectly fine with us.. especially if the weather was good. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to stay longer than 20 mins.. and we explained to her.. that we need to go back to the store to work.

So if there were other kids at the school playground.. asking Chloe to play with them more.. Chloe would say.. “I’ve gotta go.. I’ve got a store..!” muahhahahaha!! i was tickled.. to be honest.. how can we not be right..?? such an innocent answer.. not said .. because she is the boss’s daughter.. but because she knows that there is a need for us to go.. because we needed to work. So these are some of the things she does at the store.. besides harassing the customers.. muahahha!!! And sometimes.. she asked to sit outside of the counter.. and we do let her.. although she does already have her own corner.

Our babysitter Keegan is in Grade 12 this year it is a big year for her. From Prom to finishing school and then going to nursing school next year, all trying to fall into its place. One of the most important events of the year for all Grade 12 students, if you don’t know by now, is Prom Night. It is definitely a night to remember, almost like telling the whole world that yer a big gal now. So of course Keegan has been talking about looking for evening gowns already, but as you all know we are a very small town and don’t really have many places in the mall for such exquisite looking dresses.

But guess what Keegan said, she was going all out for a puffy dress *slap forehead*. Unlike her, I prefer a practical dress. Something that I can wear again. After all they are not cheap eh? Evening dresses like this one are simple yet elegant. I love the embroidered pattern on the upper part of the dress and the sheer material makes one look really soft and sexy, subtle yet noticeable. It’s in the price range of what Keegan was going to spend on her prom dress too, so if I were her I would buy something like the one pictured below so that I can use it again for other occasions like a wedding or a party/cocktail in the future. In fact, this dress can be worn for dining in a fine restaurant too and we do that a lot. You must be like me right..?? can’t wait for Gem of Life Episode 5 right..?? yes.. yes..! i know your anxiety.. i am too. Now the show is getting really exciting lah. But i also know that things changed a lot since i left .. and I can’t wait till i get home .. i really missed home.

Yes..! it’s another Friday.. and here we have Chloe getting ready for school in the morning. As usual.. she is good… a wee bit fussy.. but not a pain. She does like school a lot afterall and if you are wondering about her evaluation in school, they didn’t set up a meeting .. till PB wrote to her teacher asking for a date. She got a date and it is at the end of the month .. before they would see us… because apparently 3 teachers need to be there. The teacher herself, Mrs Fuller and the language therapist… WOW..!! i hear yer say .. right..?? my thoughts and feelings exactly. Chloe is about 4 yrs and 9 months.. and they need 3 teachers together to speak with us..?? about 1 problem. I hate to see who we need to face.. when chloe is 16 *slap forehead* but having said that.. i guess they do have their reasons.. but i just wished they would have given Chloe more time.. than to jump into an over-zealous mode.

Chloe is far from slow.. just the other nite.. we were watching a chinese show.. and she said to me .. ” mama are they drinking CHAMPAGNE..?? ” Can die or not..?? I don’t even think i knew how to pronounced the word ” Champagne” at 12 yrs old.. ! At 12 .. i was pronouncing “failed” as “filled”.. ok .. i rest my case.

I’m currently focusing on 2 missions .. and one of them is to get back the back dated child tax benefits for Chloe from the day she was born. I had called a month ago .. and Child Tax Benefit folks had told me that everything was in order.. but you see i know it wasn’t. They still have Chloe’s money from the day she was born .. till she was 7 months. They only paid us for 12 months.. and not more than that. And I know they couldn’t have had given us the money .. because i didn’t file my taxes for 2003 for i wasn’t even making any money in Canada ( not like I am now).

This morning, we hit jackpot.. and spoke with someone who knew what i was talking about and walked me thru’ what i should do next. So we will go from here. My second mission is to get all the money that we had spent when I was having Chloe.. during my pregnancy .. for we had to pay cash for everything and anything.. and even when i had to visit the pre-natal clinic on a monthly basis .. i was made to pay for a foreigner price plus doctor’s fee separate. So yes..!! money to be claimed.. and i intend to get it. If anyone of you knows me.. you know how determined i am. Wish me luck… eh ..!!!

We just had our Thanksgiving a few days ago .. and was invited for a baptism this year .. and a BBQ .. my favorite by Keegan’s parents. We felt we needed to be there for it .. because Keegan and her parents.. came for Chloe’s birthday .. even though we had the worst snow storm last year and had been always good to Chloe. Keegan’s mum always said.. that Chloe will always be family .. that was so nice. .and generous of them. We had a spread that day.. and it was fun.. Keegan’s dad even made me some steak.. but i already had too much. I should really steal some of their Thanksgiving recipes, that way .. i can make my Christmas dinner a success this year.

These days.. Chloe have to do homework, like writing and recognizing words. I had always thought or made to think that “primary” was kindergarten but I was wrong. Apparently, here in Canada.. or in my daughter’s school.. they expect them to know stuff already. I don’t remember doing this already .. so I am now in kinda of panic mode. I feel really, really bad .. because when chloe fussed up after a long day of school..and i still make her practice writing.. I get upset with her.. and raise my voice. And she would cry and come hug me and say.. “don’t shout at me .. mama! i love you .. you know!”

She is really such a good kid.. and took to school so well.. and yet.. now we have to force her to hurry up.. and learn all these things.. when we could have paced her out properly.. and didn’t. Most days.. i feel like smacking myself.. for listening to “some” people that pre-school wasn’t necessary.. and she will get taught .. once she gets into “primary” school. I’m torn in between pulling her out of “primary” school now.. and putting her back one year in pre-school.. and then go back in next year. Yet.. the school evaluation teacher has yet to call and it’s already Thursday..! *sigh* ..! and kinda upset..!

We had gone out to get Ciarra - Keegan’s niece a baptism gift on Saturday.. and ended up with buying this stirling silver bangle for Chloe. This is my first piece of jewelry that I paid for on my own. .and the rest came from her Godma, Lynn. Godma Lynn has got good taste too. .and bought her many diamond pendants and gold chain.. most of them are silver.. but that is what i like for children anyways. And yes.. she loved it.. wore it for Ciarra’s baptism.. and wore it to work yesterday. And today she is back to school again.. for 4 days.

I don’t know about other people but I’ve been experiencing a lot of it after having giving birth and it never seems to get better. We had the Parade of Lights last Saturday. .and truth be told we didn’t know about it.. until people were lining outside our store.. at about 7.30pm. waiting for the parade to start. I hurried PB to go pick the brat up.. from home. because i didn’t want her to miss out on the fun.. and since it was a long weekend.. i figured it was ok.. to bring her out at nite. Look how excited she was..! Of course, Kate was around.. because someone had to look after the store right.

Here we have Kate .. looking more like herself.. and prepared to be photographed. It was cold that night. . and if i had it my way.. Chloe would be wearing a scarf and a torque as well. You see Kate . .having a hot chocolate to warm herself up.

It was foggy as you can see.. and the pictures didn’t turn out good .. but people were in the parade..and as usual.. they threw glow sticks at those watching… and chloe picked up a few too.

The parade lasted 15 mins at most.. and it was.. very much what anyone can expect . .nothing spectacular.. with fire engines from different places.. i guessed. Katelynn’s dad was on the phone .. after the parade asking .. how was the parade.. and i really didn’t know what to say.. when a customer came in.. and said.. “it’s Yarmouth…!!” hahhahahaha!!! quite disappointing .. the least to say.

Chloe’s babysitter, Keegan (kate) is in Grade 12 right now and just the other day she asked her father about how she can go about one of her school projects that involved her family tree and family genealogy. I guess it must have been a very important project because I had seen her hounding her dad a few times when he came to visit while she was babysitting.

Now if we were in the United States there’s a public genealogy site that would definitely have helped Kate with her assignment because of the huge archives comprising of family records and documents online. You can check for your history by simply clicking on the state your family originated from, or search by name. A small but affordable fee is being charged, but if you want to start your family tree, whether it’s for personal reasons or for a school assignment, it’s worth it. Try this site for searching for your family tree and genealogy.

This is our first time raising money for Chloe’s school. It was called a School-A-Thon.. and it’s for refilling the recess buckets.. and to bring in speakers.. and other little stuff for the school. They had encouraged that every student try to raise at least $10 each … so we put Chloe on a mission.

For 1 afternoon .. Chloe and I went to the neighboring stores to ask them to sponsor her .. and everyone was very generous.. and they gave big bucks. Special thanks.. to everyone on Main Street, the hair shop, the gift store next to us.. and the ladies at Wells Fargo .. Mark’s Music Store, The Christian Book Store and of course Tim Horton’s Manager and her mother. We especially want to thank .. the gentleman at the barber store.. who had generously sponsored chloe.

The second day .. Chloe was on a mission in the store. She had set up her Dora table and chair with pen and envelope . and everytime.. a customer came in .. she would asked politely.. “Would you sponsor me?” and handed them this paper. Most customers would sponsor of course.. and a special thank you to them.. and of course our regulars.. they too sponsored. . and Gary, Phil and Sherry ( 3 most regulars). And for those who didn’t wanna sponsor chloe.. Chloe said to them.. “it’s alright!”.

The 3rd day.. Chloe and Keegan went to some other stores on Main Street but not everyone sponsored her.. giving the excuse that their store don’t do that.. but that’s alright too. Still she was really on a good mission and was in good spirit. Anyhow.. she did collect quite abit of money for her school. Guess how much..??

Well.. she collected a total of $141.80 ..!! and only 4 yrs and 9 months old..!!! yes..!! my brat is even better than i .. with getting money outta ppl.. muahhahahahaha!!! well.. that’s because no one could resist her wor.. muahahha!! not i say hor.. the customers … and those who sponsored her.. and her teacher lah..
