Hiya, Everyone..!

Thanks for the emails.. the comments.. and the well-wishes left over msn.. and your prayers .. during my operation. I survived..!!!!! but i feel like a ton of lorry just ran over me. Still in loads of pain.. but i’m eating.. and peeing and pooping.. although everything taste a wee bit odd.. these days. I’m not really sleeping much.. nor sitting much .. nor doing anything much. Just alot of pain still.. but i know i will feel better everyday. Sorry.. i’m just not up to chatting with anyone.. hopefully soon. Thank you all once again.

First batch of strawberries from Grampie’s garden.. is for Chloe of course. Look at how big they are..!! awesome..!! Of course, Chloe is real happy.. and she was eating alot of it… and peas too. Grampie does grow the best peas in town. As for me.. i’m too heavy hearted to eat anything… or enjoy them. Tomorrow.. or rather in a few hours.. i’ll be going into the hospital for a major surgery. Of course, the doctors are going to do their best.. but you and I know.. there are risked. i wrote a letter to chloe on her blog.. just in case *touch wood*. But I’m gonna be really strong.. and i’m gonna be alright for this cutie pie.

Just a quick note.. on my operation. The date is set .. and the operation is at about 8am.. on Monday morning - 23rd of June 2008. My EKG came up normal.. but my hemoglobin is at 98 .. not ideal .. to me. Some tests were taken today, if nothing else happens between now and then.. i should be having my op as scheduled.

So .. in the meantime.. if you don’t see me updating.. it’s because i’m on bed rest .. and any major updates .. will be updated by PB on his blog - www.gator-byte.com

Asked the brat anything.. and she would answer.. “I’ll try!”. If you tell her to go to bed early.. she will answer … “I’ll try!” .. if you tell her to sleep the whole night.. she will say.. “I’ll try..!!” seriously .. i donch know where she learned that from.. but anything she donch know if she can do or not.. she would answer .. “I’ll try..! ” Certainly doesn’t sound like a 4 yrs old kid eh..?

We are trying to give our store.. alot more exposure.. by advertising on the radio, papers .. and even on the internet. But right where our store is.. i think we should consider having some digital signage, so that those taking a walk out during summer time will take notice of our store. Afterall, digital signage is just about everywhere.. and if you think about it.. they are the one that keeps us interested.. and want to see what is coming up next on the screen.

For those who haven’t been here before.. please know that i am going for a major operation next week. I’m having a hysterectomy and having my fibroids taken out. My fibroids are huge .. and it is making me look like i am 24 weeks pregnant. There is currently some complication with it.. because my hemoglobin is extremely low.. and i’m diabetic. So the risk of me taking the operation is even higher.

Why i didn’t go for the operation earlier..?? I hung on for the longest time.. because my daughter.. Chloe needed alot of attention. With a business to run.. and a child to take care of.. i can’t possibly .. take time off.. and leave everything to PB (the spouse) .. to take care of everything.

Now that Chloe is alot older.. and isn’t an infant no more.. i feel it is time to do it. Of course .. there is still fear.. that i might not come out alive. I am not afraid to die.. but i’m afraid to leave the ones i love behind. Chloe is still very young.. even though she ain’t no infant.. but for PB to raise her on his own.. should something happen .. i don’t dare to think of it.

But i’m a survivor.. !! i am gonna go into the operation with the right frame of mind.. but not without doing everything i can .. in case something does happen. Like making sure that all my finances is taken care of.. and a new will drawn up..and signed by a public notary. I wanna sit down and write a letter to chloe.. just in case.. but i’m too emotional about it.

My surgery is scheduled for Monday. Today .. i’m going in for another blood test and am fasting right now .. and EKG .. and some other visit to the pre-op nurse on Friday. I’ll update as I go. Stay tuned.

What a day this was..! from a sudden call from the gynecologist that he wants to see me.. immediately .. and that tomorrow is not possible. So we closed the store.. went the the doctor’s office.. waited .. saw him.. went to another doctor.. and then went to get my x-ray done. Pending to be done tomorrow is my another blood test.. and EKG.

Not known when the operation is gonna be .. but pretty sure .. it will be next week.

My look certainly wouldn’t spark much interest.. but those of my babysitter would. She has no make up on .. and she can have messy hair.. and yet look absolutely sweet. Plus she does have a very sweet disposition. She doesn’t really need to do much to flirt or to attract the boys in this town. I know so .. because we have customer/s wanting to date her.. and asking how old she is.

I’ve noticed that men are attracted to quiet and sweet gals.. gals who are soft spoken and not loud like I. Most men can’t stand a smart mouth girlfriend.. because they outshine them. So if you are trying to flirt with a guy .. don’t try to win in every conversation you are having. Like i said.. the guys love the sweet and quiet gals.. and the ones that smile as sweetly as my babysitter. Oh .. also they love the damsel in distress kinda gal, so no body building please..!

I asked my father-in-law what he would like for Father’s Day.. and he said.. some ambition. Now donch we all wished for some ambition now. Anyone got some ambition to sell me.. to give to my father-in-law…?? Yes.. my father in law can be funny sometimes. I think he is a great guy.. and a great father to PB .. and a great grandfather.. to my brat. But what i admired most about my in-laws.. is they still called each other “hon” .. not something we see too often .. in the Asian community. Well.. not in my very chinese family anyways. What about your family..?? are they affectionate.. till now..?? or are they like old fashioned..??

When we bought chloe a real camera .. a few weeks ago.. and she brought it along to show off to her grammie.. this was what she said.. “Grammie, grammie..! i can now take pictures.. of my food before I eat..! ” muahhhahahaha!! move over .. Chez Pim.. here comes MonsterBrat…!! although .. she wants to be called.. PrincessChloe.

That’s what my mother used to say. I’m 43 yrs old this year.. but i don’t look my age. Whenever i tell ppl .. i am really 43 years old.. they asked what i use as wrinkle cream..?? but you see .. i don’t use wrinkle cream… i used anti wrinkle cream, never wait for those wrinkles to come out before you do something about it. Proactive is the word..!

Well.. i went for another blood test today .. for my hemoglobin and the results came out this afternoon.. and the doctor’s office called. Knowing that they called immediately .. i knew it wasn’t a good thing. Yes.. the hemoglobin went up.. by 30 points.. but not enough.. according to my family doctor for the up and coming operation. So i’ve to go get tested for cross matching again.. and go for my blood test again..!! Another chance to be dracula.

And you know what..??? i feel awfully bad.. that i am taking so much blood .. when there are ppl who really needs it more than I. These blood can save alot of ppl.. and i am just sucking it all up.. suxs..!!

No one likes cleaning the house but as a woman.. we don’t really have very much choice. Either you do it.. or it will get dirty. The man really doesn’t mind a “little” bit of dust and dirt in the house as he called it. And we really avoid vacuuming till it is really dirty .. all because the dinosaur of a vacuum cleaner of mind at home is BULKY. Not only that.. it needs a special kind of bag and we have to specially order it from Sears.. they don’t sell it locally here. We have tried other stick vacuum.. but it didn’t last .. 2 weeks was what we had gotten outta it.. and when we tried to bring it back to the store.. they said.. they only warranty it for 1 week.. after that.. we have to contact the manufacturer ourselves.. and send it back to the manufacturer .. on our own expense. So you can understand why we didn’t buy another one.

So it is really awesome.. to learn that Dirt Devil gives a warranty of 2 years plus after seeing the demo on their website, I’m pretty convinced that I am going out to get one. Yes.. in pending of my operation .. i tried really hard not to clean up after Chloe.. or the mess she makes.. after they are done playing in the tv room. My tv room. .and the kitchen.. is filled with boxes of Chloe’s toys. So i tried.. but today.. as i vacuumed the floor.. i knew there was no way.. i can take it anymore.. and started cleaning out. Packing and discarding.. and moving her boxes around.. so we have more room in the tv room.

I don’t know what I am gonna do .. once i get my operation.. come home.. and need to get rested..?? When i had chloe .. 3 days later.. i was home.. cooking .. washing. .and back to the store.. taking care of the Christmas rush. This time.. with my fibroids operation.. i really donch forsee any difference. I will still have to get up and cook for myself.. and clean.. and vacuum… and do dishes.. and wat not..! *sigh* .. wished i was home.

I met PB’s buddy ex-girlfriend the other day at the mall and the once plump looking gal has gone all skinny. Well.. not skinny, skinny.. if you know what i mean.. just lost alot of weight.. and she even looked slightly different. In fact, it took me a couple of seconds to recognize her. Of course I didn’t asked her how she lost the weight.. or what was the cause of it.. coz’ i didn’t wanna appear rude. I wonder if she is on some kinda super diet pill or what.. ?? but whatever it is .. she is doing.. she sure looked different.. alot more confident.

Thanks to everyone who commented that I’ve nice hands and manicured fingers. Truth be told.. i haven’t gone for a manicure since I was pregnant with Chloe. I had such back morning sickness.. i can’t go anywheres at all. And if i do managed to get outta the house.. i would be getting a panic attack.. and PB would have to turn around.. and get me.

After Chloe was born.. i was too overwhelm.. in between helping PB at the store..and managing the employees.. and of course taking a chunk of my time was looking after Chloe.. who never sleeps. Plus the main reason for not doing any manicure no more is because they do it quite differently here. The girl who does my manicure .. seems always in a hurry.. it was quite a different experience that you get here.. as compared to Asia. In Asia.. they try to let you relax.. and enjoy it.. here .. they are so pack.. sometimes.. they forget they are not finished with you .. while attending to another customer. And no . .i don’t do nothing with my fingers.. just cut my own nails. What a huge difference from being back home.. where i get a manicure every 3 weeks. I missed home.

Vacations are great wherever you choose to go. I guess for some it is a great bonding time to be the family and for others it is for experiencing a new culture, new sights and scene. And for some who loves food, it is the all new and authentic food that one can only get in that particular country.

One of my most memorable holiday was in Miami Beach. I am pretty sure.. that everyone has heard or seen on brochures and tv what a fraction of Miami Beach looks like. Blessed by good weather all year round, Miami seems to have the most tourist whatever time you choose to go. And the beaches stretches like there were no end to it.. and the people on the beaches.. you would think people don’t ever work in Miami and not forgetting the water sports they offer there. It was certainly a fun & unforgettable holiday for me.

Of course Miami is not only about the beaches and hotels, there were plenty of other things that we did too. Like the Miami Boat show, a spectacular 5 days event and we did the art walk, shopped at Sunset Place, visited Little Havana and all these were made possible because we were smart enough to rent a car in miami. Chloe went for her orientation for her school starting this fall. She did so well.. we were taken by surprised. She just followed the teacher .. and the rest of the student .. to another class for playing .. and doing exercises.. and even had a snack. No crying.. no fussing.. absolutely cool.. and happy. Even the teachers said.. she was really a happy kid. I cannot be more proud of my brat…! I wanna cry..

This was one of the classroom we saw in the school. I think they are for her next year classroom.. but I’m not too, too sure.

I am looking forward to our vacation this summer. Even though i have a pending surgery soon for my fibroids, the gynae’s secretary had assured me that come August i would be up and running. Now that we have a little brat with us, we have to get a sturdy and a bigger luggage. We choose to buy the Briggs and Riley brand because they are known to be great for frequent travelers and I really foresee doing alot of it .. this summer around the province.

Yes..! once again.. the Dracula in me .. is fed. The nurse that did my drip the last 2 times wasn’t around.. so another nurse did it. And guess what..?? blood was dripping all over.. and oozing right out. Yup..! joy..! but all is well. i didn’t lose alot of blood.. and i still got a whole bag of it. More pictures to follow. In fact.. i have fun when i am at the hospital.. talking about politics.. and the town.

Yes.. ! tomorrow.. i get to be dracula again.. and this time.. we hope to bring the hemoglobin high enough for my surgery. On the same note.. because I’m diabetic.. they need to sorta conferred with other internal doctors.. before doing the operation on me. Today’s doctor appointment.. was like meeting with secret service. Everything .. everyone also donch know.. and more tests is asked for. I tell yer.. i’ve never been to the hospital as many times.. in my entire life.. other than right now. It’s almost crazy..!!

When I was having my blood transfusion the other day, the nurses were talking about going to Vegas at least once in their lifetime. Of course, being an ex-hotelier, I had to say something about vegas hotels and give my recommendations. For your information, Las Vegas is not just for a quicky marriage or for gambling and casinos alone, Vegas is for the family too. You have the theme parks for the kids, food for the foodie in your family and shopping for the girls.. and of course for the older folks like my in-laws, a show at Ceasar Palace would be great for them. See i told yer.. it’s for the whole family.

Going for a blood transfusion was really an experience for me. It wasn’t painful or anything.. except for the initial needle that went into my hands. It took about 3hrs for a bag.. and the first day was kinda scary for me. But the nurses were great.. and they made me feel really good.. and comfortable.

Unfortunately, hospital food suxs..! big time..!! i wonder how i will be able to survive the few days stay with i get my fibroids out. I’m truly grateful for the transfusion.. and see how important it is to donate blood.. and when i am well again.. i too will donate my blood back to the blood bank. For those thinking or haven’t donated blood.. you should.. if you are healthy.. it saves life..!

Well.. as you can see .. Godma was really cool… and came by the store.. even though we were too busy to go see her. She spent sometime with Chloe. .and took her for a walk.. and let her take pictures with her camera and all. They had fun. As you can see.. chloe is all sweaty from playing with Godma. It always seems like something always comes up.. when Godma visits.. and her trips are too short. Next month when she comes back.. i would prolly be recovering from surgery.. and again.. won’t be able to do alot with her. What a bummer..

We were just joking today.. that we should go out and get something for PB for Father’s Day.. and he had told the kid..that before we can get anything for Father’s day.. perhaps .. we should find a present for Mother’s day first. Yes.. i couldn’t think of anything .. i would have wanted. But to be honest.. all women are not difficult to please.. a piece of jewelry like a gold bangle would be really nice.. and appreciated.

The brat hasn’t been eating good lately. In fact, she would complained that her tummy hurts. Just the other day, she didn’t even eat her favorite mashed potatoes.. and went to bed really early at 10pm, and by her standard.. now that was early.

We were pretty worried.. and monitored her closely for the next few days.. and still she said her tummy hurt.. and didn’t wanna eat much. Being parents ain’t easy.. because you need to know .. if she was just doing it.. because she didn’t wanna eat a certain food.. or was she really ill.. and we don’t want to take things too lightly .. nor let the brat get away with things either.

Parenthood is alot of work.. and serious work.. because it means taking care of another life.

The nurses in this town’s hospital.. i’ll have to say.. are really doing a great job.. and more. It was an eye opener for me.. when i went for my blood transfusion for 2 days. I never knew the ambulatory service was such a busy place.. and there were so little nurses taking care of so many people. And little did i know that going in for blood transfusion was not an uncommon thingie.

But the nurses were cheerful.. and even the retired nurse who came back to help relief.. was awfully nice. They even wished me good luck.. and gave me a big hug.. when i left the hospital this morning. Nurses are very important in the health industry.. and most i’ve met were very nice.. not so though.. for the other ppl in the hospital.

Yes..! i got home safe and sound.. and the transfusion went faster than usual. To be honest.. i was quite frightened. Who wouldn’t be right..?? And highly commendable are the nurses in the ambulatory service at the Yarmouth Hospital. Just like my pre-natal nurse .. Joan, they were very professional.. and personable. Thus making my experience a lot less unpleasant.. and in fact i look forward to the one today.

Being not a spring chicken no more… I’ve been asked many a times.. by our customers.. how to lose weight because they seems to think that Asians are all slim and petite. I still feel that if one is healthy, you do not need to be scrawny thin. Staying fit is most important in my agenda.. what is yours..?

I’m doing my fasting again.. for tomorrow’s blood test..! lets hope .. i can stand not eating for the next 12 hrs… else I would be in big trouble. Being diabetic means that one has gotta eat smaller meals.. but more frequently .. so I’ve gotten into the habit of doing just that. So now not eating for 12 hrs.. just isn’t even good for me.. mentally i mean.. quite stressful..!

I don’t even dare to think about when we do have a war. What am i gonna to do..??

I’m obsessed with making my home comfortable and presentable.. and I’m sure alot of ladies out there are exactly the same as I. This is how she behaves .. when she is at the doctor’s or out of our store. Basically, she doesn’t turn into her bratty self in public.. and we rarely have to raise our voices at her.. in public. If you say no.. she won’t argue or anything. At the doctor’s office, she saw crayons and books.. so she colored. No fuss.. no noise.. just coloring.

Yes.. she even hold on to the tin of crayon. .and color on her lap. It was amusing to see her so engrossed in coloring the book. Truth be told.. we are pretty proud parents. This time.. the doctor said she was cute. When he had said.. that she was stubborn the first time he saw her.

Yes.. !! especially since he is going out and going to marry my favorite diva.. Mariah Carey. It’s great to know more about Jay Z and to see Jay Z Profile with lots of pictures and information on him. I didn’t know his real name is Shawn Corey Carter, I’m going to have a ball reading up on him tonight. Are you a fan too..?? or just interested in Mariah Carey’s new man..?? We got to see Godma Lynn today finally.. so it was great..! fortunately, she took the time to come down to town.. an spend an hour with Chloe.. knowing that we had been so busy .. because of my health issues. But guessed what she bought for Chloe..?? Yes..! chinese noodles.. as per the brat’s request..! thank you Godma Lynn..!

As you all know .. i can’t get my blood transfusion .. right away.. because it takes like 8 hrs.. on Thursday.. and another 4hrs.. on Friday. So in the meantime, I called my family doctor’s office.. to find out what i can eat.. or do.. in order to keep me from collapsing.. since he said.. i was severely anemic. I finally got thru’ the office.. and i asked the secretary to ask the doctor .. about it.. and you know what she said..????????!!!??????? She said.. i should google it…!!!! so if i can google and advice.. why would i need a family doctor for..??? infuriating as it is.. I am wondering if she remembered that once upon a time.. she was just like us a patient.. and wasn’t the doctor’s secretary…?? I wonder what she would say .. if i asked her for a recommendation for a drug rehab eh..?? google it too..?? i won’t be surprised at all.

Ok .. folks..!! looks like my blood transfusion ain’t today. It’s confirmed for Thursday.. 8 hrs .. 2 pints. And on Friday .. 4hrs .. 1 pint. It starts at 8am.. on Thursday. So if you wanna start thinking of me.. you can of course. 8am folks.. on Thursday. And in the meantime.. if i collapse.. you know who to blame.. and look for eh..?

I went for my blood test this morning.. for my diabetes check. Little did i know that i got an urgent call from the doctor’s office wanting to see me on the same day. As you all know.. seeing the doc .. is quite a task here. So for him to want to see me immediately, i knew it wasn’t good.

Anyhow.. my hemoglobin is very low .. in fact .. i was told dangerously low. Normal ppl have it at about 135 .. but i have it at 51 .. so yes.. i can collapse anytime. So yes.. i have to go for a blood transfusion .. tomorrow it seems. And another unit on the next day. *sigh*.. ! what a day..!!

PS : PB said.. it is called .. Severe anaemia so as to not frighten my dear readers.. and think that I’m dying.

During winter .. we always have the problem of dry skin and nose bleed.. because of the humidity in the house.. and the heaters that we use on a daily basis. I’ve never had this problem in Asia. It never really bothered me .. but when you have a kid at home, you need a Air O Swiss humidifiers because of the many benefits it comes with. My father in law came on MSN to chat with me last nite.. and told me.. that he had a treat for me. Guess what it is..?? Yes.. !! lobsters..! since it was the end of the season.. therefore he bought some.. at $5 a pound.. not bad considering the supermarket sells them for more.. and not so fresh as this. But I think my father in law bought those lobsters because of Godma Lynn who is in town..!! she loves lobsters too..! but it was really nice for my FIL to think of me.

PS : We didn’t get to visit my in-laws or Godma Lynn.. because the brat just wouldn’t cooperate.. and by the time we were ready to leave.. Godma Lynn was heading out to the lodge. Just too bad..!

I really didn’t think that I would like Mcdonalds coffee.. nor be addicted to it. But ever since i tried the Vanilla Ice Coffee that just was just introduced a few weeks ago, I’ll have to say .. i’m absolutely addicted. The very first cup i had was at the McDonald’s in Walmart.. and it was the most perfect cup of Vanilla Ice Coffee I had. It wasn’t too sweet.. it was just right. It came with lots of ice.. the way i liked it.

The family and I were out shopping .. and we decided that we should get some snacks before heading out to the in-laws.. when I saw the promotion for a small Vanilla Ice Coffee for only $1.39, really cheap..!! I knew I had to get it..! and no regrets… it was pretty awesome..! Yes.. the guy who served me… was nice.. and polite. .and I had my drink within a few minutes.

Of course, I had to have it again, but this was at another McDonalds in town.. I’ll have to say i was not as much pleased with the first cup I had, the ice wasn’t enough.. and the vanilla must have had been too much.. and the ice coffee looked like milk, way too sweet for my liking. But i wasn’t deterred.. i wanted my $1.39 ice coffee..!! So I went and tried again.. and this time.. i asked for more ice.. and it was good. Ahhh..!! McDonalds will be seeing me alot this summer.. you have made me a Friends4Coffee forever.

For those who thinks migrating is great.. i want you to think again. Seeing the doctor is more difficult than seeing God. On top of it.. there are lots of rules. in the doctor’s office. Don’t you dare make the doctor wait for you .. or he will not see you. If you missed your appointment.. there is a $30 charge. For any extra service.. even a medical certificate for your employer . .there is a charge.

I don’t think in Singapore.. i’ve ever been told off by the doctor’s secretary .. but over here.. if you are late.. they can refused to see you .. and tell you off. You are at their mercy.. and you just gotta stand there and smile at them. Wanna migrate still..?? well.. look at the chart of things they will charge you for visiting the doctor.. and think again. Yes.. if i can turn the clock back.. i wouldn’t have come to Yarmouth.. because some of the things here are so ridiculous…! Having said that.. if i didn’t come.. i wouldn’t have such a beautiful daughter right..?

We were so looking forward to attending a convention in September in Orlando Florida and take the opportunity to fit a vacation in as well. Orlando vacations means Disney World for my brat but we have to miss it this year.. because she needs to start school this year instead of next year.. for there was a change of regulation here with the schools. But for those who are planning a vacation during the summer.. i know they have lots of special packages to choose from. Too bad summer would be too soon for me to travel, else we might just head out to Orlando.
