Yah.. the title tells you enough about how i feel about my siew mai from Zen. There was no taste to it.. and the meat was not completely cooked. I had 1 and doggie bag the rest.. that ended up in the garbage.. when we got home. Pathetic.. ya.. pretty..! the next time we go up to the city.. Zen is off my list.

Vancouver is one of the nicest place in Canada. Of course the main reason is because they have one of the best Chinatown in Canada and the largest Asian population in Canada. If you ever take a vacation in Vancouver, you might mistaken that you are actually in Asia. Lots of people choose to migrate to Vancouver because it is ranked the most liveable city in the world, out of 132 cities being reviewed.

Dining in Vancouver is awesome.. ! you’ll never go hungry in this vibrant city. Having said all these, of course if you are taking a vacation in Vancouver, you’ll have to look for accommodations and Hotel Vancouver is probably the best hotel you can choose from. Not only are they reputable but they are definitely not the motels that you get in Canada. My recent experience with them at the reservations department was one of the best, I’ve had since coming to Canada. Not only were they professional, they were very accommodating too, it is almost like experiencing the asian hospitality .. that one never gets in the Western part of the world.

Having stayed with the Delta group in Toronto, Halifax, Prince Edward Island and Vancouver, I’ll have to say that they certainly fared better than alot of other hotels in Canada. With the many amenities they have to offer their guest/s such as free wireless high speed internet connections, 24hrs room service, club floors to choose from and fitness center, it is definitely my choice for accommodation when in Vancouver. Delta Hotels & Resort is a very reputable chain in Canada, so you can expect excellent service and a very comfortable stay, whether you are on business or on vacation.

Next came shrimp dumpling not really “har kow” but kinda the same.. coz’ they ran outta “har kow”. I had one of them.. and of course the shrimp wasn’t fresh. So as much as I would have loved eating it all up .. i just couldn’t stomached it.. and had to have them do doggy bags for me. Sad eh..?? I guess.. if i weren’t comparing all these to Asia.. I won’t be this disappointed..??

Having been to many weddings.. and helping out in at least a dozen, we all know how much effort and stress it can be, just to plan everything out and making sure that everything is almost perfect .. on that special day. And you and I know .. that planning for a wedding cannot be a “alone” thing to do, you have to learn to delegate and get lots of help. Friends, relatives and the extended family are roped in to help and any help is good, trust me on that advice.

Next came the glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf. Now this dish.. PB ate. .and so did the brat. But as we all know .. glutinous rice.. is hard to digest.. and may cause heartburn.. so i didn’t really care that the brat eat alot of it. There were 2 in it.. and we only managed to finish one and one third of the rice.

Since winter is here, you all know how dark it gets and it sure gets dark really early here in Canada. At about 5pm.. it is totally dark out .. and coming home from work at about 6pm.. isn’t fun at all .. especially if the wind is blowing and cold out. So trying to fumble at the keys.. and getting at the keyholes.. with a kid .. in toll .. you know it isn’t much fun.

For folks like us.. outdoor lighting is very important, cause the town that we are in.. does not light up the streets properly. Yes.. you heard me right. The lights are deem on the street and it really doesn’t do much .. for us residents of the town. The only lighted up place in our town.. is where all the big boys are. During the winter.. you probably think that the street that I am on.. is a ghost town. Some Hollywood directors should probably come use our street for some horror flicks.

We finally made it to Zen Restaurant in Lacewood Drive .. and it was the one that we had been to.. before having chloe. We ordered a few things.. but not alot to choose from the menu. The first dish that came out was Pork & Century eggs congee. Truth be told.. it was as plain as it can get. The congee wasn’t all the smooth either. But the brat and PB didn’t wanna eat it… so i ended up having the whole bowl. They had soya sauce.. but only the dark kind.. so i can’t even make it tastier. Sad eh..??

I’ve always found it hard to buy gifts for the boys .. because gals, you just have to get girly stuff… like dolls..and princess dresses… and dressing up set. But what do one buy for the boys..?? RC helicopter, I found is not only fun.. you actually kill 2 birds with one stone.. and you keep the boys and their daddy really busy. Perfect gift.. and some “me” time for mummies.

Yup..! that’s what they say now..! and what do I know.. right..?? since the experts say.. we must eat.. so i’m sharing with all of you. But seriously, i think they are really meant to educate the Western women.. so that they would stop eating french fries and burgers.. and think that they are the only thing they can eat.

1. Berries - more protective plant antioxidants in berries than any other food. And they prevent memory loss.

2. Salmon - We all know why of course.. right..?? Because of the Omega 3 - healthy fats to fend of heart disease… so you don’t die when you are doing naughty stuff in bed.. muahhahaha!!

3. Leafy Greens - We all need the folic acid in dark greens because there is just not enough nutrition in other kinda food.

4. Whole Grain - Give you more fiber. This one i find it really hard to follow.

5. Golden Veggies - sweet potatoes, beta carotene you need daily to lower your cancer risk.

6. Nuts - excellent sources of protein, magnesium, B vitamins and E–trusty fighters in the war against heart disease and cancer. This one is easy peasy to follow.

7. Yogurt - terrific source of B vitamins, protein, calcium and –if it has active cultures–the healthy bacteria known as probiotics, which crowd out disease-causing germs. If you get the kinda yogurt you like.. i’m sure there is no problem eating it.

So tell me.. outta the 7 .. how many do you already eat.. ?? or will make an effort to eat them..?? As for me.. the only thing I find it hard is the whole grain stuff. The rest.. no problem.

If you all don’t know by now, I am quite technically challenged. If not for my spouse owning a computer/entertainment store, i wouldn’t have any clue about one cables from another. And yes.. they do make a difference.. high quality cables will give you better end results as I soon found later. HDMI cables are those cables that I was talking about and at affordable prices too.

Well.. as you can see.. as soon as we checked into the hotel.. freshed up.. we went food hunting. Good thing the malls were still open at 7pm.. for we thought.. that were like home.. and would be closed by 6pm. But nope.. we were in luck.. and with some directions from the good looking front desk guy.. who was originally from Y-town… we arrived at Halifax Shopping Center within minutes. Headed to the food court.. and had Tempura Udon.. and PB had a sandwich from Subway..!! Ya.. he is SO ADVENTUROUS..!! one has gotta admire his eating habits..! Sorry no pictures.. because i was too greedy. Besides the udon that i shared with the brat.. I had Inari-sushi, the udon was great.. although the tempura was soggy.. and the Inari - sushi was so-so. Not bad.. but nothing to jump up and down about.

Many years ago, one wouldn’t think that one can afford a plasma tv at all. You see it on tv of course… or the movies.. in those stylo-malo James Bond movies.. but now.. plasma tvs are so affordable.. it’s the “thing” to get.. for the man.. and the movie lovers. But of course with the plasma.. comes the plasma tv lifts, I love it. If I have a plasma tv.. I would definitely get one of those, they not only save space, but also very stylish… just like some millionaire’s gadget.

Before we left for the city and put Keegan in charge.. we had told her to decorate the window if she can.. if not .. not to worry. .coz’ you all know what happened last year right..?? with Ms Selfish..??

When we came back from the city.. we did drive by the store.. and lo and behold.. we were shocked to see drawings on the windows and all.. with Santa and candy canes.. and stockings… and lights were up.. and all. Very impressive .. for someone drawing and painting with free hand.. and to think that we thought Ms Selfish .. had a special talent..! well.. guess what.. Keegan has special talent too.. and definitely ain’t complaining about being stressed up with dressing up the window.

We spend so much time at the store.. and the weather is cold like 6 months here in Canada. So in order to keep fit, instead of going out in the cold especially during winter, we bring in fitness equipment at the store.. so that we can do our exercises here.. and not become fat and lazy. My mum used to say.. if you can get your butt to the fitness center, you’ll just have to bring it wherever you might be.

We spend so much time in our bedroom, one cannot help but want to make it the most comfortable and most cosy. Of course when we were younger, my parents didn’t allow us to do alot of things on our bed or bedroom.. for fear of us dirtying them. But as an adult.. we read, we watch tv.. we even snack on our beds/bedroom, and we have girl party too. Modern platform beds are the most stylish bedroom accessory suitable for both you and the man. It’s not girly nor is it too manly, here you find a compromise for the bed that you both can accept completely.

We arrived at about 7pm at the hotel .. and of course the first thing the brat did was to check the hotel out. I tried to buy this snowman.. unfortunately, there was none in sight.. anywheres.. in the city. What a real bummer..!! I bet it would have looked pretty good on our display window in the store.

My daughter lived in a different era from I. She is truly blessed.. with grandparents doting and loving her so much.. wherelse mine had too much .. or just showered their love to the richer ones, the richer sons and daughters.

My paternal grandmother died really early .. when i was 9 yrs of age, my grandfather wasn’t exactly the most loving grampie on earth. Unfortunately, he died a very lonely death.. with no grandchildren closed to him at all.

My maternal grandmother was in Indonesia, so we only saw her once in my lifetime. I grew up telling ppl that my grandaunt was my grandmother.. because she was the one who brought up my mother. But since she does have her own grandkids..and children.. you can understand.. that her love for us.. her grand nieces were quite sparing.

Therefore, I am very determined to make sure that my daughter is closed to her grandparents.. and her uncles and cousins… unlike the way I was brought up… not knowing your cousins at all.. nor your aunts and uncles. It is a very sad thing.

We stopped on the way at Digby to have a late lunch in a very small eatery… called Josey’s Place. It wasn’t a fanciful place.. but i’ll have to say.. that it’s the cheapest that we’ve eaten.. and good food.. and plus.. the brat ate some ham.. from the plate. It was a all day breakfast that i got.. but i got alot of food.. on the plate.. for just $6.50. Really value for money. The waitress was great too.. and so was the cook.

Show me a cat that doesn’t love fish.. and that would be the day, when men wouldn’t love their “toys”. Every man that I’ve spoken to, loves to a flat panel televisions, now if they can put it in the bathroom, they would for sure. But at the price it is still at, we’ll have to really save a long time.. to get the big ones.. for the man.. for a birthday/christmas present. But i guess, one doesn’t need a huge for for the bathroom.

Spending so much time in the TV room or the family room as we call it, requires good home lighting, to make it the most comfortable room for the family to gather. We play alot of board games during the winter.. and i remembered so clearly.. that those winter nights.. when it was long.. and the fire place going, it was great just to bond .. without watching the TV.

You all know that I was up in the city for a few days.. to eat all the food i can get to eat.. that i normally cannot find here.. and to do asian grocery shopping as well. So the days leading to my trip (one has gotta save up right) , I had to eat really, really carefully.. since i was saving all my money for my city trip. Yes.. that was what i had for breakfast, lunch and dinner… because I’m that poor..! muahhahahha!! And they didn’t taste too bad either. So for those who are saving for trips/vacations.. you can eat like me.. 10 cents a piece for them. But you’ve gotta buy them in bulks.

When you are planning to get married .. you have to remember that you are making changes in your life. Once you are married, you have dependents, whether they are your kids or your wife, you need to make sure they are provided for when the need arises. So I’ve always advice people to look into insurance, because a life insurance no medical exam, is so easy to arrange for, and you will always sleep with a peace of mind knowing that your family and loved ones will always be kept safe .. and they will never have to fret when you are not around.

Christmas is just round the corner and I haven’t even started on my shopping. I told my spouse how much I hate Christmas .. because we just don’t have the time to go shopping for good stuff.. for our friends and family. Well of course the man has got some bright ideas! He said to get stuff as seen on tv, where you can buy everything online and have them gift wrap as well. You can also choose your payment plans for some items i heard. So if you want to get something good but don’t have enough money all at once, you are in good hands.

Sponsoring my chinese groceries for this trip up to the city.. is Grammie… who gave me an extra $60 for buying more chinese stuff.. to last me even longer. Cool mother-in-law eh..?? Yes.. I bet all of you are envious now.. but you all know how much i miss my food from home. You should now see my freezer.. and both my pantries.. at home. They are stocked up with food big time..!

I’m a person who needs backups.. be it a back up plan, back up food, back up clothings. Well.. you get the drift… right..?? These days, of course one has to have back up batteries for just about everything and anything.. from laptop, to your cell phone and of course your cameras. Good and cheap ones can be found and if you look hard enough .. you can find just about anything with regards to batteries here.

My fibroids acted up the whole time we were up in the city .. from being in pain.. and taking more painkillers than usual.. till no sleep at all.. the first nite.. and some only the second nite.. i didn’t really know what to think about it.

But all is well.. today.. a day after i returned from the city. Am I going insane..?? is it a psychological thing..? how can one explain..?? to be honest.. my fibroids feels really good today.. !! almost like i didn’t have one..!!! please tell me i ain’t going crazy..??

Buying a home is a huge investment. Many a times, we asked ourselves, which real estate company we should go to and which one is better. Many people from over here goes away for a vacation in Florida during Christmas. I know so.. because the beautician that does my facial.. she is most busy at this time of the year, for all the ladies going for their vacations wants to look their best. Orlando vacation home, is where most of them stays at .. when they are on a break. Home away from home.. with lots of luxury… they called it… and no snow..!

We just got home last nite.. and on the road home.. we had to stop many times.. because the brat wanted to go pee. But i think it is only because she wanted to get outta the car. It was also raining quite abit.. on different areas.. on the road.. but we made it home safe.

I haven’t slept good for the last few nites.. when we were up in the city.. and did i sleep good last nite. The brat slept good too.. last nite..! thank God..!! So .. hang in there.. while i tell you about my trips.. and pictures on my trip.

One thing i’ll have to say.. is .. although going up to the city was great..! nothing beats coming home.. to your own house.. and your own stuff. Hell..! i’ve never been happier to come back to Y-Town.. muahhaha!!!

I’m such a slacker mom..! i’m supposed to have already decided on what to do for Chloe’s birthday and all.. but i’ve yet to send out invitation cards for Chloe’s birthday..! Yet to send out those Christmas cards too.

It has been so busy of late for me.. and besides work. .and more work.. my tummy has been acting up quite a fair bit.. and with cooking for the brat.. and maintaining the store..and trying to keep the heat bills down.. ahhh..! it’s alot of work.

Seriously i feel real bad for my brat.. coz’ she does deserve better.. but to make a decent living.. i’ve no choice.. but to entertain the customer/s first.. and then her later. Therefore, when Keegan is around.. i donch feel so guilty.

This is the famous Rappie pie that everyone eats here in Y-town. Now if you are french you have to love eating it.. ! it’s a Acadian french thing. When i was taking a picture of the Rappie pie.. PB’s uncle asked me if i had a food fetish.. mauhaahhahahaa!! well.. the rappie pie is made of .. chicken, mostly potatoes but it ends up being like soggy potatoes. As for me.. i donch like soggy stuff.. therefore you never see me dunk my crackers into coffee. What about you..??

Hotel booked.. checked out the opening times for the sushi place and dim sum place. Weather checked and still looking good. Car checked and tires aligned. Employees in place for Saturday and Monday. Threw out all the bad food. Carpenter was here for the french door. It’s gloomy here.. and we are expecting flurries.. but lets hope.. it clears later tonite.

I didn’t get my haircut yet.. now waxing my eyebrows.. but oh well.. Halifax have to take me.. as i am… muahahhaa!! as if anyone is gonna notice me..muahhahaha!!

I think alot of folks .. are almost done decorating.. and shopping for Christmas.. but as usual.. and as you can see.. we are terrible.. when it comes to the festive season. As much as i hate decorating.. you know that we can’t escape from it at all. And the worst part is.. we have the stores.. and the house to decorate.. ! not easy .. at all.. not easy..! Frosty ferns.. may help a wee bit with my decorating, for i still haven’t come up with a theme yet.

This is a home made lemon meringue by Aunt Rainy, for the lunch we had last Sunday. I’ll have to say.. that “ang mohs” hor.. very good at baking.. and making all sorts of bread, cakes.. and cookies. My mother-in-law’s sisters.. they all can bake like nobody’s business..! And my MIL can whip up a cake.. in no time. I’ve also noticed hor.. “ang moh” men.. hor.. they also like to bake..

The man was asked to be in a wedding of a friend.. as a groomsmen, and of course he agreed, since it was his childhood friend. Luckily, the bride and the groom gave their groomsmen gift, way before the wedding.. else, i would have bought the same cufflinks for the man… to go with his suit. It was a very nice gesture.. to remember not only the bridemaids.. but the groomsmen as well. Unlike another childhood friend of the man.. who didn’t even give anything to show his appreciation for his best man.

As usual .. this trip home .. Godma again.. was able to bring Chloe out for a drive and shopping.. and even to the park. Chloe was really eager to go out with Godma.. although .. she wouldn’t go out with anyone else. Godma.. must have a special place in Chloe’s heart. We can’t leave her at Grammie’s house.. but she would go out with Godma.. for drives.. and stuff. Strange brat..!

My trip back to Asia is long overdue. It is time to go home for a vacation. Funny i should call Asia home still.. even though I’ve been in Canada for so long.. and applying for citizenship. I guess deep, deep down in my heart .. home will always be in Asia.. and nothing will and can change that. And this trip home, I’m going to need a good luggage sets, so that i can buy all the asian food i can’t get from Canada and bring them back with me.. after my vacation. Boy..! will the custom officer be amused.. when they open my luggage.

I checked the weather.. and it’s still going good..!! woohoo..!!! that only means one thing eh..?? going to the CITY..!! WOOHOO..!! DHAMRA SUSHI and DIM SUM here i come..!!

This is our first mini vacation.. after so many years. And no worries.. about the store.. and staffing..! No morning employee..?? no worries.. we still survived.. and it has been almost a year..!!

When one tell people that you are going to Australia for a vacation, people just naturally assumes that you are going to Sydney and Gold Coast is flooded with tourist. Hotels in Gold Coast are sure having one of the highest occupancy, for every asian that I know, flock over there for all their sports activities. Afterall, Gold Coast is not call Surfer’s Paradise for nothing.

There are many hotels in surfers paradise, and depending on what you want and the locality, you can definitely find one that is affordable and comfortable. Don’t forget to drop by Perth since they are really close by. Perth hotels are just as nice and you will find loads of things to do in Western Australia.

Uncle Jerry has always been the happy uncle we all know. We donch see them very often.. but when we do.. we are always happy.. coz’ he is fun. See how happy the brat was playing with her Granduncle. And nope.. in “ang moh” town.. we donch call him Granduncle.. just Uncle Jerry.. The hierarchy of address the elderly is totally different.. from what we are used to back home, even PB calls Aunt Helena.. just “helena” most times. But i wouldn’t want my brat to grow up .. ” mo tai mo sai” .. so i’m instilling the aunties and uncles.. so she knows.

In my earlier post, I told you I was worried.. that the brat may not know how to socialize .. but as you can see here.. she is perfectly comfortable.. with adults.. and in her own territory. In a way, Chloe is very much like me.. because it was the same way when i was growing up. I never went for parties.. or mix around ..with other kids .. because my mum was really busy with work.. and had no time.. to take care of us socially.

Can anyone guess how old is Aunt Guyt (pronounced as Gert)..?? the lady in pink..?? next to Aunt Helena..?? I bet you can never guess.. muahahaha!! PB was so amazed.. how young Aunt Guyt looked.. for her age.. and said to me.. while we were going home.. from my in-law’s .. that he hope we hold this well at the age of Aunt Guyt’s. Make a guess .. everyone..! Lets see how sharp you are. I have already given you alot of clues.

Surely you’ve heard of Fannie May..?? Even I have.. for someone who isn’t a great fan of chocolates of any kind. But the man and the brat is.. and especially those dark chocolate candy. With Christmas just round the corner, you know who is going to be buying alot to give as gifts.. and also to please the man.

After a few nites.. with not enough sleep because the brat keeps peeing in her bed.. we decided.. to put on her diapers on her again last nite. You see .. we will check her .. at about 3am.. when we are about to go to bed.. and if she is wet.. we have to change her.. wipe her down.. and clean up her bed.. and then pacify her.. and make her go back to bed.. so by the time.. we sleep it is like 5am sometimes.. or sometimes later.

And then she wakes us all up .. at 8.30am.. or 9.30am.. and wants me to wake up with her.. so yes.. we are so tired. So last nite.. we surrendered..! as much as we donch want to.. but we want to get a good nite sleep.

Thank God.. she slept from midnite.. to 10.50am.

This weekend, we are planning on a city trip and besides, eating and shopping.. we have 2 stops to make.. one at the hospital to visit a good friend.. and another to a drug rehabilitation to visit an extended family, who have a addiction problem. Sometimes.. i wonder why the town would spend so much money on building another office.. instead of taking care.. of the resident’s problem that we see arising every day. Busting the traffickers.. and users.. are just not enough.. one has got to nip the bud at its tip and provide real help.

As a mother, we want our kids to be an all-rounder, but because Chloe doesn’t attend childcare or preschool.. she goes to work with us, I am always worried that she wouldn’t know how to socialize with other kids. Do you worry too..?? When i was younger.. we stayed with our grandparents.. but we did go to kindergarten for 2 yrs.. where we learn to read and write.. and dance. Can you remember that..??

About a week ago, Keegan’s parents bought Chloe a Christmas cookie. They had bumped into us.. at the grocery store.. and asked.. if they were gonna get into trouble.. for getting the brat a cookie .. muahahah!!

The basement of our house is pretty messy and plain. The workbench is just a counter top with a power bar screwed to it. It gets the job done, but a customize work bench from FormaSpace would be awesome and a great Christmas present for the man at home. Something that is wide enough for a computer and with a raised back shelf for the monitors, it would be so much easier to work with on those days where he has got a few things he wants to do at the same time.

This town is a joke.. ! but i’m sure you all know that already. On today’s local papers.. it said.. that the now defunct liquor store will have the medical clinic up and running by December. When the liquor store moved to Starrs Road, they said.. that it was going to be a “free” clinic .. because of the shortage of doctors, so having this clinic will allow those that does not already have a doctor get a chance to see one when necessary.

Having older folks in the family, it is always good that one learn more and equipped yourself on what to do when certain medical issues arises. A quick and fast response or action can save lives for someone who might be having Cardiac Arrhythmia or what we call Cardiac Arrest. Since Cardiac Arrest happens so quickly, there is little chance of survival, if you don’t know what to do. But how does one prevent .. cardiac arrest..?? or are you at risk..?? check out inside cardiac arrest and read all about it, they have many useful information that might come in handy one day.

You know .. when you donch have the luxury of getting food at your whim and fancy .. you’ll take anything that is available.. and hope for the best. So here I am.. saw the Pad Thai in our local grocery store.. i pounced onto it.. and grabbed it. At 4.99 a bowl.. it wasn’t the real thing.. but it had to do for now. My consolation was at least.. it had lots of chicken.. even though it wasn’t spicy at all.

While shopping for birthday gal’s Sarah’s present.. i spotted this baby carrier for the brat. Lately, she has been playing mummy alot.. so I thought i would buy her the carrier.. so she can put baby down to bed nicely instead of on the floor. Silly mummy eh..??

I have a fetish for Sunglasses and just like every woman on earth, we like to have a wide variety of different kinds to choose from. Plus if the price is great, and affordable, then I would be willing to buy a few. I can’t go without them.. and need them to match with my clothings and shoes.

Ray Ban sunglasses were really popular at one time.. and everyone was wearing it. From my secretary right up to the boss’s wife. Chloe was invited to Sara’s birthday party .. and because bot Gerald and Adele are the most wonderful folks that I’ve met since coming to Canada.. we postponed our trip to Halifax.. so we can attend the birthday. Chloe did good at the party. .and she really had fun.. with so many little kids. Unfortunately, the party folks at Macdonalds sure pale against the ones we have back home. But that’s another story altogether.

I guess when one becomes a mummy, you tend to splurge on your kid .. but not on yourself. Raise your hands.. if you are like me..?? I’m sure all mummies and daddies are the same. But because we travel quite a bit.. for work.. this Christmas, I am going to pamper myself a wee bit.. and get myself a new laptop for Christmas. A loaded laptop at killer price, that’s what i want.

Last nite the brat made an improvement, at about 3am.. she came out of her bedroom.. all soaked..! usually i would have to go in and check on her before i go to bed.. but last nite.. she woke herself up.. and she said.. it was because she had a bad dream.

So maybe it was an improvement..?? maybe not..?? i’m really hoping that with the feeling of discomfort from being all wet, she would wake up and pee in the toilet instead.. from now on. One can always be hopeful eh..?

After a quite disappointing Ocean 12 .. i was quite reluctant to watch Ocean 13 but with Al Pacino in it.. how can one resist right..?? The usual cast was in the show and another heist planned because casino owner - Al Pacino double crosses one of the original Ocean 11. Revenge is a funny thing.. so they say. But how nice it would be.. if for every wrong .. someone do to you .. you get even.

Beddings are great gifts for folks like us who have harsh winters. One can hardly go wrong with beddings for gifts. Even though we run electric for heat during winter, to heat the whole room up is way more expensive than having some electric blankets.

My mother-in-law had offered King Supersoft Electric Blankets for this year’s Christmas gift, since we had a king size bed not knowing that we don’t share blankets. But i’m sure she will be able to find some single ones for us, if she is keen on it. And they even have Hannah Montana sheets that I had been looking for my niece who is a great rock star fan.. ! This was what PB ordered.. when we were at The Colony last Sunday for brunch. How exciting eh..?? FISH AND CHIPS..!! woohoo..!!! ya.. ya.. i’m being sarcastic.. but look over here at this entry.. and this …. and this.. you would be sarcastic too.

Torn in between doing the right thing and the thing I want.. and that is to go up to the city this weekend… we chose once again to do the right thing. To go to Sarah’s birthday.. because we love her.. and her parents.. and to wait for Godma Lynn to come from Toronto.

And it’s also mainly because I am still having my menses.. and the weather isn’t really lighting up. So Yes.. we as usual.. are doing the right thing.

Do you remember toys/puzzles like this when you were young..?? Chloe and I saw it at the Christian book store near our store.. and i just had to get it for her.. to see if she was interested in playing with it. She was.. for a few minutes.. after buying it.. but then she gave up. I think she doesn’t really understand it.. and how it is supposed to be moved about .. to put the puzzle back together… hahhaha!!

Yes.. it has been a few weeks now..that Chloe has been doing this…! even when she gets up in the morning.. she doesn’t want PB .. she wants Mummy..!! and as usual.. if i donch go with her.. or get up with her.. she would start bawling her eyes out.

I know it has got nothing to do with Keegan.. because she does that with PB too.. so i absolutely have no idea.. what is going on..?? Can anyone care to shed some light here..?? why she is so needy of me these days.. ?? when she was so happily going thru’ her routine like clockwork..??

Donch know how the brat does it .. but 3rd time… we found her all wet .. and sleeping in her pee .. and had I not woken her up at 5am.. before sleeping.. she might just have slept thru’ the nite.. with her wet PJs..!

I thought that as soon as they wet themselves.. they would wake up.. but not my brat..! isn’t that strange now..?? Anyone.. had the same experience..??

This is the reason why .. everytime.. Keegan brings the brat out to the candy store.. i tell Keegan every candy trip.. .that she has to watch the brat like a hawk. .and hold hands. Some ppl might think i’m paranoid.. and crazy… but that’s ok.. coz’ you know what..?? think what you might.. as long as my brat is safe.. nothing is more important..!

Well .. it looks like our diaperless nites are not over yet. 3 nites in a row.. she did good.. and then last nite.. she peed herself .. and wet the bed.. and apparently .. she slept thru’ it all..!! this morning .. she woke up.. i didn’t even feel the wetness.. when she came to snuggle up to me. It was PB who went into her bedroom to get her blankie and all.. that alerted him of the wet bed and blankie.

Lets hope.. the accident wouldn’t continue.. coz’ we hate buying more diapers..! just a waste of money…!

Everyone in this town owns one of this.. but we never bought anything like that..! why..?? because we donch want an obese kid.. firstly.. and secondly .. if we were going out for a walk.. walking it should be right..?? after the kid is old enough to walk, unless of course .. you want a lazy kid. And there is no need to bring the kid out in the winter.. so the excuse for having a wagon .. is to walk quickly. So no.. no matter.. how we look at it.. it just didn’t justify getting something like that. Even the strollers that we got for the brat .. we didn’t get to make full use of it at all. What a waste of money..!

This has gotta be the worst food i’ve tasted here. The lasagne was ordered at The Colony restaurant.. and it was awful..!! it’s like they reheat the whole thing so many times.. or heat it too much.. the bits and pieces of beef in the lasagne was so dry.. even a stray dog wouldn’t eat it. The pieces of bread were supposed to be garlic bread.. but it just reeked of something.. but not garlic..! I didn’t finished my food.. and had it all “ta - pau” .. but tonite.. i still couldn’t finished it. It was way past horrid..! I asked PB .. why do i still bother to eat out.. anymore..?? it is just too depressing to eat out.

Here we are having Sunday brunch at The Colony.. and as you can see .. the brat has her own food from home. I kid you not.. when i say.. she doesn’t eat outside food. We have quite a few invitation this time of the year for birthday parties for kids around chloe’s age. Strange as it might sound.. since Chloe doesn’t attend pre-kindergarten or child care center, our invites are no less than those kids .. that do attend.

Yes.. you guess right..! invites are mostly from customers of our store.. and honestly, we do try to go .. because they are the folks we want Chloe to grow up with. One such family is the ever generous and loving family Gerald, Adele and Sarah Leblanc. How generous are they..?? after Halloween, Adele (who is ultra busy lady), came by our store.. so that Chloe can get her goodie bag for Halloween..! you see lah..! where got so nice folks one.. right..?? go out of their way .. to make sure .. that Chloe knows she is not forgotten.

Sometimes I wished we could do more .. for folks like the Leblanc’s .. they donch pick gifts for Chloe and us .. just randomly.. they really give it much thoughts too. And really .. we wished we have more time to go to everyone’s party.. but time just would not permit it.. ! We need 48 hrs a day.. !! Got time to sell..??

The brat wanted to help me water the plants at the store today.. and we let her.. because she would keep asking till we do. Then she turned and she said to me.. “See Mum..! i didn’t die..!!” coz’ mummy is used to say.. “Don’t do that.. you will fall .. and DIE..!” MUAHAHAHAHAHH!!! Oh my God..!!! the brat tickles me to no ends..!

Godma Lynn called from Toronto today.. and announced that she was coming into town next week.. for a week. She wanted to know . .what to get Chloe for her birthday..and Christmas. As usual.. so thoughtful.. and so kind..! We told Godma.. not to buy anything expensive.. and that anything above $20.00 is considered expensive to us.

We can’t wait to see Godma.. before she leaves in December for Mexico.. for her annual holiday. Now only if she could bring us too.. muahahhaha!! GodMa Is Coming to Town is like saying.. Santa is coming to town .. muahahah!!

The brat went to the bathroom, telling me she wanted to pee.. but when she was inside.. she shouted.. and said.. “Chloe is gonna poop!!” So i went to take a look to make sure she was ok. And she said to me.. “My papa is gonna be proud of me.!” .. in which i replied.. “yup..! he sure is..!” .. and then there was no poop.. and she said.. “My papa is not gonna be proud of me.. today.. maybe tomorrow.. !” muahahhaha!!!

I donch have a maid to help me clean and cook. I helped PB man the store for at least a good 6hrs - 9hrs daily. On top of it.. Had i been in Asia.. and living in Asia.. i too would be tempted to go out to food court.. and buy food .. or visit restaurants.. on a weekly basis.. or maybe more. But as it is.. even when we do go out to eat.. we still packed food for the brat.. because she just refuses to eat out.

But it is quite alright.. because i strongly believed that because of the home-cooked food.. and the bundling her up any day that she is remotely cold.. helped big time… in preventing the brat from getting ill. I’m proud to announced that in the last 3yrs 10 months.. the brat has been ill less than 10 times.. and seen her family doctor mostly only for her needles. Paranoid or not.. as long as the brat is healthy.. nothing else matters.. or what other might say.

My poor brat has always been plagued by hives .. every now and then.. and we really donch know what we are giving her to cause her to get it… but it sure isn’t a pretty sight .. when she does gets it.

Chloe is almost 4 yrs old now.. and yes.. time flies..! and sometimes you wonder .. where did it go..?? At almost 4 .. we’ve finally not have to wear diapers to sleep for the last 2 nites.. and she had been doing very well, she didn’t pee at all.. in bed.. and waited till the morning to pee. Some may say.. that it’s nothing.. afterall .. she is gonna be 4.. but if you donch know by now.. we are pretty busy parents.. who cannot afford to lose alot of sleep that we already donch have. So we let Chloe wait as long .. as she wanted.. till she was ready in alot of things. From peeing in the toilet to poopie in the toilet.. it all happened one fine day.. without anymore cajoling.. or bribing. It has only been 2 days.. but one can always hope right..?? With the winter already here, it gets colder every night, and what best to give as present for Christmas this year to the in-laws but an Automatic Warming Blanket, have a wood fire in the living room is just not warm enough on very cold days, and in Canada.. winter can get really hard and tough. I know for sure… that anyone who is in this cold climate will appreciate it big time.

It was Remembrance Day yesterday… but it was so cold.. we didn’t really get to do anything.. with chloe.. and teaching her about Remembrance Day. With so many things going on .. in Afghan.. and Canadians in foreign land.. i thought i should teach her young.. and remember those heroes.. who have made it possible for young Canadians like her to enjoy the freedom that she is enjoying right now. I think it is so important to teach them young, that way they will understand it better.. and children do absorb alot more.. than we give them credit for.

Our basement has been turned into an entertainment room for the hubby, and besides the pool table.. and the bar, there is a huge tv to entertain the “boys”. And because the “boys” are at our basement so much.. i decided to get a slot machine, so they not only have fun using our basement as their clubhouse, we can also make some money back .. from all the electricity they are using.. and the beers we provide. How ironic..!! when the town can find the funds … to build a $5million building..???!!!?? Retarded.. !! And donch even get me started on it again..!! These are the things WE the people see as a REAL need.. to help..! but where are the town councils.. and the people who are MAKING THE RIGHT DECISIONS..???? The people we are supposed to TRUST TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS..!! Arrrrghhh..!!! Donch even get me started on it .. again..!! it’s infuriating..!

My landlord has many properties that he owns, I know he has hired quite a few people on his team to help him manage the offices/shops, apartments and houses he has for rental, but like any good old employees, not everything is passed along as it should.

Many a times, we have to try and catch my landlord by watching out for him, when he goes into his office or coming out. One time I even had to resort to placing a note on his car windshield, so that i can get to speak with him about some repairs that we had agreed on months ago. I’ve been in Canada for 7 yrs now. .and the amount of time i’ve eaten fresh pineapples are less than 10 times. Most times i eat them at Aunt Helena’s when we visit my in-law’s on Sunday… and it’s not even because I am stingy about it. But buying a whole pineapple for 5.99 most days.. is just not worth it .. when you are eating it alone.

Yes.. quite the ironic .. if you ask me.. back home we have them at the wet market for $1.00 and in Bangkok or anywheres in Thailand is like 20 cents. As asians.. we all love pineapples .. but you and i know that pineapples are not the best fruits to take .. for a women.. as per old wives tale. Nope .. PB doesn’t eat them. nor does the brat.. so usually .. i end up throwing them out.. so “sayang” .. therefore i never buy them unless they are on sale.. which is still ex.. ! Grrrrrrrhhhh..!!

When you walked into your friendly grocery store.. and you see these… you know tis’ the season..! I love fruit cakes.. ! what about you..?? they have different kinds of fruit cakes here.. from the light.. to the dark.. to the ones with marzipan and the ones with walnut topping. As much as I love them.. i won’t buy them.. because i can’t even finish just one fruit cake.. and it always ends up a year later.. in my fridge. .and ready to throw out. It is just too sweet.
