Moving from one house to another .. is already an uphill task, and for those relocating from one city to another, I assure you, is no easy feat either. A couple of years ago, a girlfriend of mine moved from Connecticut to San Fransisco because her husband was offered a great job in SF. The company had kindly arranged for a moving company to help them move and since the company was paying the moving company, my girfriend, didn’t think nothing of it at all. Well, how wrong she was, not to find out more about the moving company, because this is a true story.

Reading is probably one of my favorite pastime besides watching chinese tv shows. And everyone that i know or have met love books too, be if fiction or biographies or like my spouse, he loves the Sci-Fi big time. Books bought off the shelves in a bookstore can be very expensive, considering that now we also have to buy them for my kid. And it’s really nice.. when you find a place that offers up to 50% on the books you like. And you and i know that books makes good Christmas gifts.

A girlfriend of mine living the United States, keeps getting pulled over for speeding. She was quite sure that she was doing the required speed limit each time but she sometimes is in a hurry for another meeting or picking up her kids from pre-school, so she didn’t think too much about it and just accepted those fines on a regular basis.

Well.. that was before her car insurance premium went up citing those speeding tickets. Her solution recommended by her boyfriend was to get the best radar detector, which is absolutely legal in United States except for Washington DC and Virginia, as long as yours is a non-commercial vehicle. Well, you can imagine whose ticketing days are over.

What is In-Service..?? yer probably wondering..! well.. In-Service is so often heard in this town of ours.. because it means.. the kids donch have to go to school.. for either the teachers.. have got some meetings on.. or they have to do marking..??!!?? What luxury eh..?? In all my life in school.. from primary to secondary .. to pre-university.. right up to University.. i donch believe . .we have had anything call in service.

Last year alone.. the kids didn’t have to go to school for in-service for like days..! unbelievable amount of time off for the kids.. that at times.. i wonder how are they gonna cope.. with finishing the year’s syllabus. I’ll have to ask Janice from HunnyBunz.. if they have in-service now in school. Or maybe.. i should check with our customer who is a teacher in one of the schools.. to see what this in-service is all about.

I worry.. because .. when Chloe goes to school.. what is it gonna be like. Already education is so different from what i was used to.. back home.. i foresee my kid not being challenged enough.. when she is at school. If so.. how is she gonna survive the hard knocks .. when she starts working..??

I don’t know about our family but in my very Chinese traditional one, it can be quite embarrassing to go home and get a loan from your parents or brothers and sisters. Why..?? because the family equates your shortage of cash flow as being unsuccessful and if one wants to go home and get a cash advance, you will have to explain why you needed the money, how you are going to pay back, and then you get to hear a long lecture of how you should be more careful with your money and so forth.

We wanted to get new curtains for our windows and decided instead this year.. we should get some blinds, but little did i know that there are other alternative to blinds. I fell in love with fabric window blinds immediately because it sure is a great way to soften the windows. I read in the local papers today about how someone had written about it being an insult to spend 4 - 5 million for a new municipality building for the town councilors. Another customer of mine .. has been raising alot of questions during the town meeting .. but they wanna discredit him by saying that he is crazy.

People donch just speak up because they wanna make noise.. or become famous in the town.. ! Ppl speak up .. simply because they are enough. And although irate at times.. with this town… i donch speak up.. because i’m only on borrowed time…and borrowed land.

My grandmother used to say that if you love your family or love anyone, you will have to plan for their future and take care of them in case anything were to happen to you. I know she is right because during my younger days, i’ve seen relatives and school friends whose parents died all of a sudden and left them with nothing at all .. to cope with facing the future without them, was really heartbreaking. I know of some who couldn’t even afford to pay for the funeral of the loved ones.. and had to literally get social welfare to help.

So as soon as I started to work, i bought insurance for myself, in case i leave my mum behind and she had nothing to fend for herself. But when I gave birth to my daughter.. the need to increase my insurance was even more important.. because what if she was left behind.. to fend for herself..?? So yes, I love my daughter too much to even let her go without any money to help her through life.

A fleet of cars just passed by our store… and all horning happily away..! This happens almost every Saturday.. when you find some suckers getting hitched..! Yes.. they get into the car.. from the church to wherever they are gonna have the reception.. and they horn away. At first i found it cute.. but after 7 yrs.. i find it really annoying.. especially if you have a sick spouse.. and a fussy brat.. who insist on camping in the store.

Teak wood furnitures are very popular not only at our home but commercially as well. I fell in love with Teak Wood furnitures because the hotel that I used to work in uses them where the pool deck is. I used to wonder with folks coming out from the pool all wet and then sitting on those pool chairs made from wood, wouldn’t the bench/chair rot easily. We don’t have a Ikea in our town, the nearest one is in another state and even with online buying available, they only ship to their warehouse in the city and that’s 4 hrs away from where i lived.

I need a pink office chair badly because the one in the our store is giving up on me. No one in town carries a pink one but studio RTA furniture does and at a price reasonable too. Free shipping is offered, what better deal can one get..!

I’m sure you’ve heard that Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, there is even a song for it, if i am not wrong. As for me, i never liked the solitaire ring, i’m into a band of diamonds, it’s looks alot nicer, to me anyways.

This anniversary, I was hinting about getting one and showed a catalogue full of diamond rings to the husband. I hope he gets the hint. Back home in Singapore.. Used Cars weren’t that popular even though cars were very expensive. I have no idea why but i am guessing is the Asian mentality that used things may not be as good or they may break down. Most friends that i know wouldn’t even consider a used car.

And the strangest thing here in Canada is .. everyone is into used cars, my father-in-law buys used autos all the time. The US dollar continues to fall against the major world currencies.. and the Canadian dollar continued to raise above parity. Event the tourist we had today at our store .. was asking for our quarter to exchange to bring home. This is really strange.. because when I first came to Canada.. i remember the Americans being very indignant.. about getting their American dollars for change .. for anything they bought.

Strange as it is.. but i get a feeling that the Americans coming across this is year are way better than we’ve come across .. the last few years. I wonder if it has anything to do with the greenbacks..??

Fan frenzy was cited but not much about the game itself..?? Hype is another part of it and it really didn’t suck big time.

I write things close to my heart.. because it affects the business alot. It also affects if we are going to continue to stay in Yarmouth, and invest in this town. This morning on local news.. they wrote a small piece about the Provincial tourism official getting a earful last nite. But what is their action plan.. besides changing the stupid name on the brochure..?? (like it would ever helped..???!!??)

Business has been hurting downtown.. big time.. with Walmart and the expansion of Superstore and some other various specialty stores that sprung up on us.. during the last few years. Even we were not spared.. with Movie Gallery trying very hard to undercut us.. downtown merchants.

My question is ONLY ONE.. ! What is the action plan here..?? No more HOT AIR please..!

The British Rocks..!! I chose to study in Glasgow.. because I met a wonderful Englishman from Plymouth, UK. No don’t be silly, he isn’t my boyfriend, he is a much older gentleman, married with a few children and a few dogs. Someone who had stayed in the hotel i worked in during a school holiday many years ago, and he was a little hard at hearing, so he needed special attention.

Of course I love London most because it’s has got one of the biggest chinatown in UK. Hotels in London are aplenty. And if you are planning a vacation in UK, depending on your budget, you can definitely find great hotels at an affordable budget. When we were much younger.. we didn’t have all the money nor spending power, so while traveling around UK after finishing my studies, we chose a few places that we much see. Hotels in Manchester and Hotels in Birmingham were booked promptly because these are the places we had to see.

But we didn’t want to stay in those back pack hostel because we wanted to be safe… and most importantly have our own bath, instead of sharing. So a few of us, made reservations and shared a room instead. And since Birmingham is just in between Manchester and London, we just have had to go there too. But we chose the bed and breakfast, because we’ve never experienced that before. It was very affordable and very homely i must say. So whatever your budget maybe, planning is very important when you visit Britian. And it can rock your world.. if you have all your itinerary planned. Happy Holidays..!

As if they donch make enough..??!!!?? Now the doctors here in Nova Scotia.. wants more money or go on strike too..??? Local news reported that rural intensive care units in Nova Scotia may be without doctors for the next week or so. Until the doctors get a better deal with the provincial department..!!

I donch understand this..! i know the doctors are paid good here.. and just to entice them to come to Nova Scotia.. they have so many packages.. for them.. and their family. And you would think that morally the doctors wouldn’t go on strike right..??

If I was moving to a certain area or a different county altogether, it would be great to get some demographic data of that county or area. But of course for a greater use of demographic datas are for marketing purpose and to consolidate all information so that a company knows which area and what kind of product or services they can offer to that particular community. With this data, you can get income, the house value, race and even marital status on any address, thus making any marketing promotion a greater success.

I cooked ABC soup for the brat with a twist. No potatoes nor onions.. but red dates, wolfberries and of course the famous corns. See here .. Chloe wolfing down the corn.. because she thinks they are corns from Grampie’s. So she decided that Grammie is the “Best Cook In the World” today..!! Muahahhaha!! she thought Grammie cooked the soup for her. She had the corn before she had her lunch..and the bowl beside her is with soup and carrots and some pork. She had 2 bowls of it.. and said she had enough. I’ve never seen the lil’ brat like something as much as her corns and her peas.

I wrote about the Tourism Session scheduled this month and it was held today. We didn’t even planned to attend because we knew from the start that it is gonna come to naught. As i am typing this right now, there is a group of teenagers making so much din opposite our store and watcha gonna do about it..?? No one cares.. and no one is willing to take a step forward to look at the real problems downtown is facing.

Customers who attended the meeting said that there was no outcome.. and the mayor didn’t wait for the meeting to be over.. and slipped out the back door. NICE..! i think all those that depends on tourism to keep them afloat .. should prolly forget about the idea. A new president was elected too.. for the ppl who organized the Seafest here annually. I suspect he was elected because he was the one in charge of the bike rally that we had during summer. It was a success for the most part but i can assure you, we didn’t make a cent out of those bikers who came to town. So did it helped us. Absolutely no..! I just hope that the rest of the town did benefit from it though.

Something needs to be done for a major turnaround. By building a new municipality building for $4 - 5 million bucks just ain’t gonna do it. While you enjoy the new building a few year down the road, we can kiss downtown goodbye.

Christmas is just round the corner and you and I know how tough it is .. during occasion like this, because buying gifts for your loved ones, friends and extended family can be quite a task if you ask me. Every year I plan way ahead as to what to get for who.. but it isn’t easy at all, because you really want to give because you care and all gifts shouldn’t be bought just because you need to, you have to buy gifts because you want to show you care, you love. Christmas gift ideas are welcome for anyone who needs to buy Christmases gifts, if you have one to suggest for me, please let me know, because I only want to buy gifts out of love and careful consideration.

The brat is addicted to the computer. She knows exactly what to do.. and knows what educational programs she have. Thanks to a great customer/friend Rod who keeps giving her software .. my brat has never ending of fun time on the computer. And yes.. that’s her puter.

I love BBQs and anything that can gather the family together.. to eat and to be merry. I don’t even need an excuse to have a gathering, i think it is because I was so deprived of having a big, jolly family when i was a young kid. My cousins, aunties and uncles are so distanced.. we were never closed at all.

So now that I am in Canada.. and my spouse’s family is HUGE..!! I just love it big time. My dream is to have an outdoor kitchen, for entertaining them.. and for my kid’s friends.. when she goes to school. Having an outdoor kitchen has it advantages i am very sure, no more dirtying the home kitchen .. while we entertain.. and no worries about the kids dumping all their dirty dishes indoors.

Yes.. we’ll sell anything that makes money. And since it’s for my FIL .. we actually donch care.. if it makes money for us.. we just sell it at the price .. my FIL wants it for. So if you are looking for pumpkins.. you’ll know where to find them. We already sold quite a few this week.

A very long time customer came into our store.. today.. and Chloe being Chloe remembered him.. and his name and all. When he was about to leave the store.. Chloe asked PB .. “where’s is grandmother…??” I’ll have to let you know that this customer is pretty old in age… but young at heart.

And PB answered a matter-of-factly to the brat.. “prolly in the ground” .. muahahhaha!! it’s too funny lah..!! i’m sure it’s true.. and if you know PB … he has humor that only when you know him well.. you’ll understand it. But of course Chloe didn’t catch the joke.. but still.. i almost choked..!

Some ppl just shouldn’t be doing voluntary work.. or collecting charitable donations.

A very unique store, I’ll have to say, even i took a liking to it immediately. Some of the goodies sold here.. are not only edible but they are really cute..!! and very unique..!! i bet those receiving these gifts would be equally amused.. and find them memorable.

The personalized mint tins can be used for any occasion, as for me, I am thinking of getting it for my customer/s for Christmas, they are really lovely, if you ask me. But temporary resident in Yarmouth County had other plans for “Ralph” .. that’s the lobster’s name. Nope.. he didn’t BBQ Ralph .. nor is he keeping Ralph for a pet. Can you guess what he did..??? It is really nice to know that there are good ppl out there.. if that gives you a hint.

The money that was paid for Ralph is going to the Alzheimer Society. So even though Canadian posties were not included in the recent opportunity to promote the Alzheimer Society, we still did our part.

For everyone who can guess what was done to “Ralph” .. i’ll donate a dollar for every right answer to the Alzheimer Society. So come on.. make your guesses.. and donate for a good cause.

Sometimes.. i too wonder how i do it.. cook.. work.. clean up.. look after the brat.. feed her.. and more cleaning.. and more cooking for the next day. And the routine goes on and on. Usually i donch have to cook for PB .. i only need to take care of the brat’s meal .. and that alone is quite taxing. But today.. i managed not only to cook for the brat, baked chicken for PB .. and double boil soup for the brat the next day too. Washed dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. And even managed to put the brat down to bed tonite.

Mothers and wife are just amazing creatures.. who can juggle time.. and multi-tasks. My mum used to juggle her time to cook at least one meal a day for us. I can now understand why she gets real agitated.. if things are not within her control and the way she planned it. I never thought i would say this.. but i’m as anal as my mum..! muahahahah!

The things a child say.. can really warm your heart so much.. I sometimes donch know where she gets it from.. or what i did good to deserve such a good and smart and warm loving kid.

This evening… while feeding her some “chinese” noodles.. the brat turned around and said this to me… “Mom.. you are the best cook in the world..!” muahahahhaha!! you tell me.. that doesn’t shocked you first.. and then warms your heart so much.. you just wanna drop everything and cry… and hug her..! I was very tickled too.. and you know what.. chloe is so sensitive.. coz’ she knows exactly what we need to do at work.. or on the computer.. and she takes in just about everything you say.

Tonite.. i didn’t spend time on the puter.. because i didn’t have anymore work to do. You know what Chloe said to me.. “Mom.. you have no opps to take..??” .. muahahhahaha!! You tell me lah..!! how can all these smartness not warm my heart leh..?? I’m forever grateful to the ONE up there.. for giving me such a lovely kid..! and all i want for her is to be healthy and happy always. AMEN..!

If i weren’t afraid of dead ppl and mortuary, I would have become a nurse or even a doctor. But i’m handicapped because i’m a wimp… muahahha!! For years and years.. i’ve known all along. .that nursing pays not only well.. it is one profession.. that will never be too much ..! For generations.. during my grandfather’s time, he had wanted my aunt to go into nursing.. and to please him.. she did. One of my uncle was the head of the nursing school back home. And one of our favourite customer’s wife is also heading the nursing dept here.

With the loonie so strong here in Canada.. it’s enough to lure some nurses back from the States. I know alot have gone to the States to work. Maybe the strong loonie will work for us this time.. instead of against us. Nurses and doctors are a great shortage here in Nova Scotia and with more and more nurses retiring.. we’ll need to do more than just giving them more pay. I hope the government will act on it and take advantage of the currency situation.

I’ve never thought about owning a dog although i do love them.. alot. It takes alot of loving and nurturing just like for a child to have a dog, in my humble opinion. I find that dog training, is alot harder than training a child because firstly, you don’t really understand what the dog is telling you. Sure dogs are very smart but i feel that professional help is needed in this area, unless of course you have all the time in the world.

Professional help is also needed to train a dog for particular skill or to correct a dog’s behaviour. And you really want to have a happy, loving and a well-mannered dog too. Just imagine bringing your dog out for a walk, and your dog starts barking at a child, now that is not only embarrassing, that can be quite devastating to the child as well.

Owning an electronic store can sometimes bring you some funny questions from customers. Just a few days ago, someone came into the store.. to ask if I was from and i had told him, I’m from Canada.. just so he can stop asking me more questions .. because .. i really didn’t wanna entertain him since i was alone in the store. PB had gone home with the brat and Keegan. But he went on and one.. and spoke to me in Tagalog as if i was a Filipino’s..!! Donch get me wrong.. i love my filipino friends.. but i had already told him.. i’m from Canada right..?? and I’m a Chinese..! You know.. when you just wanna roll your eyes.. and slap your forehead.. when something like that happens..?? ya.. that kinda feeling.

And then he bargain for the VHS movie price and said.. he only had $3.57 when i told him the movies were at $4.56. And the best part of everything is .. he asked if we had Super VHS Cord..?? What IS that…?? Have you heard about a Super VHS cord..?? So i asked PB when he came back.. and we are guessing he wanted a S-Video cord..?? To be honest.. some customers.. you just wanna rid off.. so bad.. if you know what i mean. Half drunk and smelling of pot sure doesn’t make me feel good at all.

Going to UK for the Christmas is our holiday plans for this year. We’ve always wanted to visit my Godma because she is longing to see my little brat. I’m a huge fan of Spice Girls and so is my God-Sister. We grew up with Spice Girls! I’m sure you’ve heard of Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham and when we were younger, we couldn’t really quite afford any of their Concert Tickets, but of course, it’s quite a different situation now. It is really and extremely nice.. to see ppl for once .. being decent in this town. And the Tim’s gals work really hard.. and they even remember what I take in my coffee. One supervisor knows i love mushroom soup very much.. and everytime.. she makes them.. she’ll make sure i know about it. And if PB was the one getting me coffee for the day.. they would even inform him about it. Now how nice is that…!! going beyond the call of duty.

This is what i usually share with PB for lunch.. if we can’t think of anything else to eat. The combo comes with beef and broccoli and chicken balls.. but i never eat those balls.. and PB never eat the broccoli and beef. As much as I hate to admit it.. Fall is really here. The nites are really chilly and even in the afternoon.. it gets too windy.. for comfort. This year.. i’m not as protected towards Chloe as I was .. in the last few years. She wears a light sweater now.. with no vest but i still make her wear stuff that is long sleeves.

Yes.. i think i am becoming pretty Canadianized lately. I’m pretty sure i am.. coz’ i never used to curse at all..! NEVER ..! not till i came to Canada….!! These days.. you mess with the Crazy Chinese Woman.. you are IN for it..!! muahahahhaha!!

Ok.. fall is here.

Anyhow.. the emergency room in the hospital was really good to him last nite.. and it didn’t take long till a Dr Webster came to see him.. and pronounced him with Kidney Stones. They shot him up with some heavy pain killer stuff. And even had a male nurse sent PB home.. because we couldn’t get a cab for PB. They didn’t want PB to drive .. because the shot was really heavy duty.

So PB got home like at 3.30am.. and went to bed shortly.. and so did I .. coz’ i was exhausted too. What a nite..! This morning.. we had friends.. and family messaging on msn.. to check if PB is alright.. and i’m grateful.. because we have good ppl around us.

I used to work in a hotel and we only had 2 IT persons, looking after the whole hotel network. By doing this.. we make sure.. that chloe is fed good at home.. and she get to settle down at home.. for the nite.. instead.. of having to stay the whole day at the store. So last nite.. when PB had to go to the hospital.. came as a shock to me.. because it was late.. Chloe was already sleeping.. and i can’t leave chloe on her own.. my in-laws weren’t online.. meaning they must be sleeping already. So even though i put up a brave front.. all sorts of questions .. were running thru’ my mind.

I’ll have to say that tattoo is really a very individual thing. Some may love lots of tattoos on their body while others wouldn’t have anything to do with it. Tattoos done right with the right tattoo designs are a work of art. But just randomly picking up a tattoo design or picking one that your friend have, now that isn’t unique at all.

I myself wouldn’t want one but I know of alot of people, especially the younger ones, having quite a few. This is my usual breakfast .. at about noon . .and sometimes later.. if i donch get to wake up in time. I prefer to have cinnamom raisin bagel.. but if they are sold out like today.. because i only managed to get food after 1pm.. the kids out for lunch usually gets my favourite first.

This is the very famous egg roll that is popular in the western part. There is absolutely no eggs in it.. and we never have this back home too.. in Asia. So how it became a chinese thing in the Western part.. i donch even know. Some places in Halifax i know sells the all meat egg rolls. The normal ones have cabbage, potatoes..and some meat in it. It’s very oily.. coz’ it’s deep fried.

A neighbour’s son got to know a really nice girl over the internet and started dating in Adelaide, I mean .. he literally went to Adelaide to meet the girl .. and stayed for a good one month. Well, you guess as much, he is so in love, so he said, therefore he is moving to Adelaide to be with her.

No doubt Adelaide is a beautiful country with calming hills, crashing waves and a whole valley of wine. But what about his livelihood..?? surely one cannot live on bread alone. So while making arrangement to be with the love of his life, he started looking for jobs in Adelaide. He was quite confident and gung-ho about the move that he even started looking for an apartment for himself and his new girlfriend on Adelaide classifieds. I sure hope everything works out for him, for uprooting is definitely no easy feat.

Love can sure move mountains, I know so because I uprooted from Singapore to Canada to be with the man I love too.

Donch know what happened.. but PB got sick right at 11pm.. and his stomach felt really bad and all. And PB rarely gets ill. So after trying to throw up and all.. he still felt back.. so he left to for the hospital at 12.50am. This is quite frightening for me.. because i’m alone with Chloe at home.. and i donch know what else i can do. What a real bummer..!! My in-laws ain’t even online ..!

My grandmother is a little bit hard at hearing and bed-ridden, so when my youngest uncle got married last year, she didn’t attend because the flight was long, she was quite devastated to be honest. So being the good son, my uncle is.. he had his wedding ceremony recorded and even had it closed captioning, so that my grandmother can view it with her friends in the old age home.

That of course made my grandmother very happy.. and made her very proud.. that she have such a thoughtful son.

I had written that chloe’s Godma was gonna visit this week right…but there is a change of plans.. she ain’t coming.. anymore.. because she just got promoted again.. and she needs to fly out to someone for training .. so she came as far as Halifax with Aunt Helena.. and then went to PEI (Prince Edward Island) for a few days… and then she turns around.. and fly back for her training… on Tuesday. Bummer..!! we’re gonna miss her.

But congrats.. Godma Lynn..!! On other news.. Uncle Garth and Aunt Sandra should be home soon from their Europe trip.. ! can’t wait to see all the photos..!

This is what the dumb ass thief stole from our store..! yes.. BLANK CASSETTE CDs.. that has absolutely no “black” market value whatsoever. If he had brought this to the town drug dealer.. in exchange for some dope.. he would prolly have gotten beaten up..! Come to think of it.. we prolly saved him.. by catching him in the act.

Moral of the story.. never STEAL from the CRAZY CHINESE WOMAN ..!! Else yer’ll end up have your pictures splashed all over the web..! muahahhahaha!!

Cont’d from Part I

PB came back shortly .. and i told him what happened. After feeding the brat lunch, he went to the office to look at the camera files, came up. .and told me .. yes.. the stupid black thief did indeed steal a box of blank empty cassettes. Yes.. it is BLANK EMPTY CASSETTES. Now how stupid is that.. i ask you ..?? In this day and time.. who would be using blank empty cassettes..??

We donch know to be pissed or to laugh it off .. because boy.. must he be stupid.. or something else….!! PB did call the cops .. because he didn’t want the stupid thief to think that he got away with it.. even though we had no intention about pressing charges. The cops called back.. and since we didn’t have the thief in holding.. he said.. he was gonna come a little later.. to look at our security camera.

A couple of hours later.. Keegan first saw the stupid thief walk by our store .. and PB went out of the store.. to see if it was really the thief .. and what good timing.. the cops came. PB said to the cops .. “blue jacket .. black guy” .. cop turned around.. and nabbed the stupid thief at the carpark.

I love cupcakes and so does my lil’ brat but baking has never been one of my forte but these days when i see all those fanciful cupcakes in the stores, I cannot help but drool and wonder how tough it is to make those cute little cupcakes for my lil’ brat and the daddy.

And like every mom and wife, we do want to keep the kids and spouse contented and do something for them to boast about. Yes.. yesterday we had a shoplifter at our store. He had actually come into our store just after we opened.. and had brought up a game asking me to reserve it for him.. and that his g/f “Emily” was gonna come in to rent it for him. Two hours later.. he came back.. and i was very busy serving customers on my own.. because PB and Chloe had gone to get lunch. Stupid thief was acting suspiciously and i was watching him from the corner of my eye.. but because the shelves were tall.. i can’t see anything.. unless i turned on the security camera on the computer, which i didn’t .. because i didn’t think he would be so stupid.. since there were pictures of shoplifters where he was standing.. already indicating to his stupid black ass.. that we have security camera.

Anyhow.. he left after abit.. and after serving the last customer.. i walked around the store.. and checked all my items .. and found that a box of blank cassette tapes were missing. My cousin who will be visiting his extended family during Thanksgiving this year had called and asked me to find him some tickets for the NCAA Tournament, his two teenage sons whom he hasn’t seen for a few years now are ardent fans of football. I know he wanted to do this to bond with them and to share their passion, so I went to the only place I know that can provide tickets even for sold out games.

I sincerely hope that besides the unforgettable entertainment experience, sons and father can also have a memorable experience to last a lifetime, for kids don’t stay young forever. It is in our Asian culture to give “pocket money” to our parents as soon as we are able to work and earn our own money. Because it is term as being filial in our culture and it has been practiced for many thousands of years, right from my forefathers time. So even though I am currently residing in Canada, my mom would still expect me to send money home to her as a gesture us being filial piety and it gives her a topic to boast to her cronies that even though her daughter is married and lives so far away, we are still thinking of her long distance. You might think that it is a silly culture but you ask any Asian, whether they are from China, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines or Japan, they would understand and give you a long brief about this “pocket money” term.

I’ve been residing in Canada for 7 years now and initially, I wire transfer all those “pocket money” on a monthly basis to my mom through the local bank here. For those who have ever sent money through the bank will know that bank transfers are not cheap at all. I paid close to $25.00 in fees every time I did a bank transfer and the bank back home takes another $25.00 out of the money I sent my mum. My mum was pretty upset because after all it was good money they were taking out from her bank account which she thinks is rightfully hers. But the bank had its rules and there was a charge in receiving foreign funds, so we were told. Convincing my mother that it was quite alright about the fees, just didn’t go well with her for she figured she was losing like a good $400 a year inclusive of exchange rate fees. Money that she could put to good use.

I realized that i do not do well with confrontation..! it shakes me up a little, even if it is only on the phone. I called a customer on my late list.. telling her .. that her movie wasn’t back.. and she was pretty indignant about having dropped it off.. already.. when in the first place.. she couldn’t even remember what the movie was.. when i told her the name. She said.. she won’t rent from us again.. and i could send her to the collections if i wanted too, even though i told her I had already double checked and the movie wasn’t in at all.

She said to me.. “well you better check again..!” and that got me really worked up.. and i said.. ok.. i’ll see you in collections then! and hung up. I was pretty upset..! but i went to check another time.. for the movie all over the store.. and true enough.. it was slotted in another slot .. not the right one.

Boy..!! is this embarrassing or what..!! now that made me even more upset..!! now i’ll have to call and apologized..! bummer..!!

Melbourne is the second most populous city in Australia. I’ve always loved Melbourne, not only because its standard of living is not as high as in Sydney, they have great events in Melbourne, the wine, food and the art scene are fabulous. Major art exhibition and musical extravaganzas are always in their agendas. With so many things to offer, it is no wonder a young couple like my niece and her husband would think of migrating to Melbourne, Australia. But we all know that uprooting to a completely different country can be quite stressful and scary.

But the possibilities are endless in Melbourne and finding Jobs in Melbourne, for both husband and wife, isn’t that difficult with some help from the Gumtree site. My niece is into childcare and her husband is a Marketing guy, and they cannot wait to be connected with people who have migrated from other places to Melbourne.

With the help of the Gumtree community, they were able to find an ideal apartment, buy a used car and found furnitures that they needed for their apartment. Time will tell if they will survive in Melbourne or they might get too homesick. But at least holidays back home is only 8 hrs away, so it isn’t that tough afterall.

An American tourist had just left our store.. after buying a few used movies .. ran back into our store.. and asked for the time.. and when i told him it was like 3pm.. he was so relieved. Why because the darn town clocked had shown that it was like 5pm and his boat leaves at 4pm I think.

Talk about trying to boost tourism in this town.. !! well .. fix the darn town clock first..!! and stop giving the poor tourist a heart attack..!! It’s simple things like these.. they cannot even get it right. And i know exactly what they are gonna tell me if i write in to complain about the clock..! that they had looked and repaired it many times.. or something along those lines..! Well.. if you had.. and it’s still not working.. and you still have it left up there.. instead of changing the blardy clock..!!! yer all are an old good for nothing farts.. running this town..!

My 2 cents worth.. and i rest my case..!

Never crossed my mind that i would see the Canadian Dollars or any other currencies on par with American Dollars. You know when I was a young kid, you hear your aunts, your neighbours and your grandmother talk about those who’ve gone to “kum san” (USA) to earn “bee kim” (US Dollars) and how proud they were of their sons or grandsons .. who had gone to the states and wash plates behind a chinese restaurant and earning US Dollars.

Well.. Grandma.. there’s no difference now.. i guess eh..?? My Grandma would be upset if she was still alive. And my mother who have had been saving US Dollars for the last 20 yrs would prolly be upset.. so i’m not calling home for now… muahahahha!!

Well.. looks like I’m also at fault for blaming China’s manufacturer for those defective toys. “Mattel apologizes to China over recalls of toys”! Mattel is taking the blame for the flaws in the design and had recalled more toys than justified.

The Barbie Doll accessories and toy cars with lead paint and tiny magnets were the main reason for the recall. Mattel caused quite a big stir .. when they called for those recall. Did you all know that China is the center for the world’s toymaking industry..? exporting more than 7.5 US billion worth of toys.

Owning a small business for the last 8yrs, we have yet to find a good collection agency to help us get back what our customers owes us for not bringing our movies and games back on time or for some who never even brought them back at all.

PB said .. the brat was almost crying .. and kept asking for a hug and even after they went home, she was complaining away .. that she didn’t get her hugs. Yes.. i’ve trained chloe to hug everyone .. like Grammie and Grampie and relatives and close friends.. but I didn’t teach her to hug kids in the park.. !! muahahahhaha!!

The biggest reason why my brat is this way is because my parents weren’t the huggie type. I cannot remember when my parents hugged us as kids. *Shrug* .. i just tell myself.. that they are the conservative type but i really donch want Chloe to grow up, not knowing warmth, love and feeling slight. So be it.. if she turns into a HUGGY MONSTER eh..?

A few days ago, I wrote about Same Sex As Parents on my “other” blog. And today.. i congratulate .. the ppl in Nova Scotia because “Mom and mom now allowed on N.S. birth registration”. The provincial government announced today that it has changed the birth registration, so that same sex partner or spouse of the birth mother can be listed as the other parent.

I am totally for it, because what makes a good set of parents has nothing to do with the sex. Being with the “correct” sex does not automatically make you a good set of parents. To me that was discrimination. Same sex parents must and have to be treated the same and with respect like everyone else is.

What is your take on same sex parents..?? Are you for it.. ?? against it..?? or donch care..??

We spend so much time in our bedroom and on our bed and i’m sure you’ve heard the expression on how you can’t wait to go home and snuggle in bed all the time. My bed needs to have the right kind of bedding, otherwise, I find it really hard to sleep. Afterall, one wants to wake up refreshed and invigorated every morning.

We haven’t given chloe alot of supplements because we believe that the food that we feed her are all well-planned and consist of all food groups. Whenever she takes her chips or candies, everything is in moderation. But as you and I know, my brat doesn’t like to eat alot of meat, therefore I’ve decided to give this to her to make sure she does get all she needs. What do you think as parents..?? do you kids eat vitamins on a daily basis..?? I remember my mum used to give us cod liver oil every nite after our baths. And there are way too many vitamins out there, what are the ones you choose ..?? any recommendations..??

I’m a full-time working mum, owning your own business even though the spouse say .. i’m only owner by association, I spend many hours in the store and play a very important part in his business (that’s what I hope to think). And since I donch have a maid or a part-time help, to help me with my housework and cooking, I have to make dishes that are quick and easy for the brat. PB doesn’t like to feed the brat crap and because of that, we have been keeping the brat really healthy and she is very seldom ill.

Playing with puzzles and learning their ABCs and 123s .. mine is playing on a DS Lite. Yes.. she is only 3.5 but she is very curious about everything, especially electronic games and the computer. We didn’t teach her, her ABCs.. she picked it up with Keegan and Sesame Streets, we didn’t teach her, her 123s, but she knows how to count to 17 and is stuck with $59 for some reason.

PB preparing for Halloween too.. but because Chloe was quite upset with the mask, he didn’t put it on for me. PB loves Halloween.. ! he is into Halloween than any other holidays. Ok.. here’s the rest that we ate at Boston Pizza, continued from Part I, this is supposedly the promotional item for a kid’s meal for Sunday at $2.99 but you’ll have to buy an adult meal. But at the end of the meal.. we found that they charged us full price for it, no explanation given, when PB and I shared a full meal.. as you will see in the rest of a photo that follows.

Well.. not to disappoint all of you.. i just wanna let you all know that i am being fed.. but food here is definitely quite disappointing. Ok.. here they are.

I started off with a mocktail .. a strawberry margarita .. but i was kinda expecting a margarita .. just no alcohol.. but as you can see .. it’s more like a frostie. But that’s alright.. i didn’t really expected too much.. but as you all know that i’m diabetic.. so i can’t really finished it all. If it was a normal margarita kinda glass.. it would have been great. More is not always the best .. as in my case.

I donch know about you .. but I sure hate OJ Simpsons with a passion. In the first place, I donch know how he got acquitted from the murder of his former spouse and her friend. His ex-wife and her friend Goldman was found stabbed and slashed to death in 1994. After even a live broadcast chasing in his car, and the trial so widely televised on international tvs. He was acquitted in 1995. He even has custody of his 2 children.

And guess who is in trouble again with the law. Yup..!! the brilliant man..! With a history of so much violence.. i cannot understand how he managed to get his kids in his custody…?? Ppl like OJ Simpsons makes me sick..!! he thinks he is GOD.. and he can do anything..! i hope he stays permanently behind bars.

As a young kid, I’ve always wanted to own a RC helicopters, but as a kid, we didn’t have very much money to spare, so I never asked for it at all from my parents.

Now that I have my own children, i can use them as an excuse to buy one not only for their entertain but to fulfill a childhood dream of mine. Afterall, the models are even more sophisticated these days and they are quite affordable I must say. Moreover, it’s so easy to order them securely online at Hobby Warehouse, Christmas comes early for my kids this year, plus I’m sure the daddy will be having loads of fun too with it.

I’m sure you all know by now.. that I donch get many good restaurant or good food here. Nothing that can make me go “WOW” .. or die-die must go back kinda restaurant. This weekend, we decided to have brunch at a different place besides Misha’s, still our favorite cafe. So guess where we went..??

Yup.. ! we ate at Boston Pizza, this is the first time we been in here and lets just say, it was no lost to us. Donch get me wrong.. the service was excellent but the food, well lets just say .. alot to be desired and sure not worth what we paid for.

Chloe does everything so good.. in terms of learning, health .. growth.. and even eating now.. and she drinks her milky from a sippy cup.. no more bottles.. and no more peeing in the nite.. but till today.. she still needs a diaper to poop..!! And she is so stubborn.. that she wouldn’t poop unless you give her a diaper.

For days now.. she had been saying.. “i’m gonna poop in the toilet today..!” but each time she tries.. nothing happens.. and it’s not like she doesn’t try. This morning.. she told me.. she was gonna lie down.. so that she tummy would stop hurting.. so you know what it means lah..! she needs to poop.. but refuses to sit in the potty. A quick change into a diaper.. and out came the poop.

Helpppp..!! we’ve tried everything.. but no matter what .. she wouldn’t poop in the potty.. and she does wanna try.. now that’s the funny part..! i donch really think she fears now.. so what is it..??? Pray tell.. ???

I can’t wait for Chloe’s Godma to come for a visit later this week. We haven’t seen her seen the spring.. and we all know that when Godma Lynn comes.. i’m gonna get some really good Prima Taste. My MIL had asked Aunt Helena to look out for Laksa and Mee Siam for me.. so I long for the day .. when Godma Lynn will arrived.

The funny thing is.. even Chloe will tell friends and customers.. my Godmother is coming you know..! I wonder why she too is excited. Well of course i know she loves her Godma.. but she is now even getting excited !

The brat is too funny.. ! she was playing with her new DS lite.. and keegan being so nice.. loan her a game she liked.. and she was playing with it tonite.. and she finished all the levels.. and guess what she said..??

I win..?? I win..?? i win..?? and when i replied.. yes. She continued to say.. she won lots of money.. and then she turned around and told her Papa..!! I’m RICH.. JUST LIKE YOU ..!! muahhahahhha!! and i know where she got that from.. coz’ Papa is always the one with the money.. and paying up. .or buying her treats. Mummy is poor.. ! mummy never have any money in the pocket.. muahahhaha!!

Well, if you are following Part I of the brat’s fuss up .. you will know that something had to be done, so she wouldn’t start her nonsense and think that she can bully us all the time, especially in front of the customer/s and at the store. I just thank God.. that she is nothing like that in public.

Anyways, i was mad..and it was pouring. .and she was relentless and wanted to go .. so i grabbed her hands.. and we ran to Tim’s to look for her Papa. We got all wet.. and her Papa got really mad.. and she was spanked.. once..! and was screamed at by me.. big time at the store.. because i was wet too..! So after our little explosion at the store.. she was good.. but she didn’t get to go for that Princess birthday party.. nor did we go shopping. That was her punishment… ! as soon as she finished lunch.. and we were done our work.. at the store.. we headed home.. and home we stayed.

And at home she was constantly reminded why we weren’t going out. First, no sleep at nite.. secondly, fussing at the store.. and wanting to go out in the rain. Hopefully, she learned her lesson, else, tomorrow she ain’t going to Grammie’s.

Can you imagine, how devastated a parent can be if a newborn had a life-threatening disorder..?? When I was pregnant with my little girl, all I asked for was that she is healthy. So already a bad start of the day, coz’ PB was having a pissy fit too.

While PB was gone to get me breakfast, a customer was in to rent some games for his PS3, for a week. Of course, the brat had to fuss right up.. and insisted on going after her Papa. I tried to explain, cajole, even opened the door for her to see that it was raining heavily… but still she was bawling..! And she usually only fuss this way.. because we have customers around .. and because she claimed she didn’t get a hug from her Papa before he left the store. And she continued fussing.. and was rather relentless, no matter what I said or do.

London on vacation can get really overwhelming, since it is such a huge place. I, myself had been to London twice but never seems to finish doing all the places of interest in London at all. The queues were long, for most of the attraction that we wanted to see and most time we give up after doing one or two places. We always return home with regrets.

But no more disappointment on our next trip to London, especially, the next trip will be with the family, long queues and tickets sold out is a definite no-no for a fun-filled and packed itinerary. Yes.. she can make up a song, spur of a moment.. depending on her mood.. and depending on what she wants at that time. She can be quite the creative lil’ song writer.. Graduating from Glasgow University many years ago, like me I’m sure alot of graduates cannot wait to find a good job in UK. But instead of Glasgow, I was looking for jobs in London, afterall, it is the capital of United Kingdom and a major tourist hub. I was pretty gamed since it is a very vibrant city and loads of opportunity.

The weather is considerably mild in London, so living and working in London is exactly what I am looking for. Yes.. they say .. beggars cannot be choosers.. but this is the worst ever sushi, I have eaten. At 4.99 for 8 pieces of sushi, I thought it was really expensive but nevermind lah.. i told myself.. if the sushi was good, no problem at all. At 4.99 this would cost an food blogger in malaysia a close 15 ringgit. And you and I know for 15 ringgit you can get way better than this. The rice was soggy, it looked like chinese porridge cramped together and the filing were cheap carrots and fish sticks and only 2 were wrapped up with seaweeds. On top of it.. every piece had some wasabi in it, thus making it impossible for a child to eat.

The CN Tower got demoted yesterday, it is no longer the world’s second tallest free standing structure coz’ a building in Dubai now tallest in the world. If you donch know by now, the CN Tower is in Toronto and one of the main attractions to tourist and the people from all over Canada. The Burj Dubai is a few metres taller now but the CN Tower is still one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.

There is the observation deck and the Sky Pod and at $27.55 for going up the CN Tower. Line ups were still its usual busy self yesterday. I’ve been to the CN Tower a few times, when i was in Toronto. And my very favorite is of course the Empire State Building. I’ve also been to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Hancock Tower in Boston and the Space Needle in Seattle, Munich Olympic Tower in Berlin and of course the Las Vegas Stratosphere.

My buddy from my university years is getting married next month and for her bachelorette’s party, she had requested that we planned to go to Las Vegas! She wanted to have super fun..! before becoming someone’s wife, mother and daughter-in-law. So as her best girl pals, we started looking for accommodations, as Las Vegas Hotels, are very popular at different season.

Spoiled for choices as Las Vegas Hotels, have so much to offer, but we wanted something affordable for 12 gals and of course the locality is very important too. Best deals can be found if you look at the right places. We picked a few Las Vegas Hotels for the bride to choose from, because afterall, she is the one that has to be really happy for this trip. But one thing for sure.. we are definitely going to Caesar Palace, like it or not..!

Halifax’s IWK Health Center is said to be the first hospital implementing the first electronic kiosk for patient check in in the Atlantic Canada. IWK is by far one of the most efficient hospital that i’ve seen, since arriving in Canada. The service is prompt. .and the receptionist/nurse are very nice too. I never had to wait more than 15mins to see a doctor up in Halifax.. wherelse here in this small town.. it can take up to 7 hrs.. in the emergency unit. Ironic eh..?

I seriously wonder why they need the kiosk for..?? since they are already a lot of efficient bunch right..? Another case of taxpayer’s money.. spend it .. irregardless..!

Love the Big Apple..! Who doesn’t right..?? All the hustle and bustle and tons of people all the time.. all day long on the streets. I binge eat too, even though I hate to admit it. But folks say that people eat to alot and loads of time, is because to numb their pain. I also noticed i eat many times.. when i am stressed or upset about something. But i donch eat large amounts of food frequently and in one sitting nor feel out of control when i eat and can’t stop eating. I eat opening but quickly and i eat sometimes to a point where i am uncomfy because i donch wanna waste food. I can’t finish a bowl of chinese noodles. And I donch feel guilty or ashamed of my binges.

I’m still wondering if i have a eating disorder.. because i love eating at nite.. when the brat is sleeping.. and watching my chinese movies. What do you think..??

Once again this town has got geniuses running it..! You just wouldn’t believe .. how “smart” they are..!!

They are changing the region to be known as “Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Travelway” to give hope to the worst ever tourism season of the century. Different name in all their brochures but the same kinda stuff.. and this will boost tourism and the economy of a fast failing town..???!!!?? GEEEEENNNIUUUUSSSS..!!!!

These ppl are sitting on their brains for far too long, and they must be on crack to think that changing the names in brochures, advertisement and thus spending another 10K to change the names on these brochures and advertisement.. and hire someone (prolly someone’s kid in advertising who is in the council) to reword another 50 words on the brochures .. for a few thousand dollars. How is it gonna help this town.. and tourism here..?? GENIUUUSESSS..!!!

Vegas has got so many things to offer and they are not call the city of a million lights for nothing. Entertaining, the food industry, the Casinos and not forgetting the many hotels in Vegas. Even our home grown local star Singer, Anita Sarawak, my favorite woman of course was once singing in Caesar Palace and uprooted and got married there. I wonder if she used the Las Vegas Real Estate, when she was looking for her new home. Afterall, they offer the most updated and comprehensive listing for all kinds of real estate.

These days… blogging has taken a whole new perspective in my view. For the fittest and most popular, it seems they have an invisible t-shirt like the above that they wear 24/7, 365 days a week. Unfortunately, I can never be the fittest nor the most popular because I give too much shit to what ppl think. No.. i can’t please everyone, but neither do i have the guts to piss everyone off, I donch think I will be able to sleep, if i did what some does or even half. But I’m no God.. and i’m not here to judge and if you can sleep well at nite, good for you!

Everyday, we get so many calls .. from ppl who wants to sell things to us. Everyday, we get ppl coming into our store.. and wanting to sell their old, old games to us for ridiculous prices.

This morning, we had just this kinda kid who wanted to sell us a game that was 3 yrs old for 8 bucks..! You can get those for as little as 9.99 new at Superstore.. and they want 8 bucks for it.. muahahhaha!! sometimes.. i donch know whether to smack them over their head.. or just roll on the floor and laugh.

And the calls we get.. !! OMG..!! you should hear what they wanna sell to us.. at times..! A Wireless Router .. that we ourselves sell for 40 bucks new.. and they want 40 buck for their used ones. At times… i wonder if they are on CRACK..!

If you donch know by now.. winter is the time..where ppl over here takes their holiday..! Yup.. you heard right..! why..?? winter is so hard here.. and cold…!! you just wanna get away.. and feel the sun.

But for those .. who goes to Jamaica or Cuba or the Caribbeans for holiday for a week.. and then come back… i think the reality that hits is even worst.. then for those who didn’t go. For me anyways. Can you imagine.. soaking and basking in the sun and beach.. and then coming back.. and stepping into the cold soil of Canada..! Now that wouldn’t be nice at all. But still.. for some.. like one of PB’s uncle and aunt.. they leave for Cuba every year.. during winter.. without fail.

PS : A check with PB, he said.. Cuba seems to be the most favorite destination for the ppl in this town.

Everyone wears jeans, you do, I do, your brothers do, your sisters do, well just about everyone… except my grandmother. But not many have unique belt buckles to go with their jeans. And what a sad thing, because belt buckles say so much about you and to me it speaks so loudly, shouting.. “I’m UNIQUE!”

In every fashion sense, a belt buckle enhance whatever you are wearing and to me, the jean looks way better than just plain old jeans with nothing. I’ve always love a guy who can carry a belt buckle well.. but if a woman were to be seen with one, I salute her.

Honestly .. it’s only 3 bucks.. and it wouldn’t make me any richer .. nor poorer.. ! but how can one walk up and down the town.. without even $3 in your pocket..?? Even my 3.5 yr old daughter.. is richer than them. It never fail to amaze me.. when ppl come in.. and ask a few bucks to be put on tap. To me.. it is so “malu” lah..!! $3 also donch have..?? and we are not talking about a kid.. this is an adult.. and an old adult at that..!

Tweety has been one of my favourite plus toy for the longest time. I used to have a really cutie one.. that travels with me.. around the world.. before i met PB. And we lost that in Maine.. when we were there for vacation. Calling the hotel .. proof to be so frustrating.. i gave up..! And PB bought this huge one for me.. one christmas.. after we lost the old one. He even tried to get one from ebay for me.. but the one that came.. was UGLY..!!! with a capital U.G.L.Y..!!

We bought this on Sunday for Chloe from the Dollar Store.. but now I’m wondering .. if i should let her use it. They are cutleries from Disney and of course.. i’m sure .. made in China even though.. i haven’t checked it out. But you know lah.. Dollar Store right.. so wherelse can they come from..? I think i better not let her use it.. afterall .. gotta put in her mouth.. better be safe than sorry..! with so many stuff going on .. with China products .. and things manufactured from China.

It’s September 11, a day that everyone, in every country remember this day, a day that shook the world. A day of extreme sadness, if i remember correctly. 6 yrs ago today.. 24 Canadians were killed in the 2001 terrorist attacks, it was indeed a very sad day for the world. There is not much said or printed today .. in the news, are we all remaining vigilant in the fight against terrorism..??

Till today, it still evokes anger and sorrow in me. Even though i am not on American soil, I still take it personally, when I remember that fateful day. It was uncalled for and it only proves that we will not tolerate terrorism. Did you and your family observed a minute of silence, for those who died in the World Trade Center..?? We did.
