“Codeine dangerous for some nursing moms, infants: FDA”

Mums who are breastfeeding their infants and who are taking codeine.. please watch out for increased sleepiness or other signs of overdose. This is a warning by U.S Federal Health Official. It is rare but serious side effect can caused death of a nursing infant.

According to tests done your body can covert codeine to morphine more quickly than in other people due to genetic mutation. The higher than expected morphine in breast milk in mothers who are breastfeeding can be dangerous and fatal. Chinese and Japanese are in the one percent risk of genetic mutation, where the caucasions are about 10%. It is a very rare side effect in some mothers but since it can still happen, mummies please take note and be careful..!

Btw.. codeine is a very common drug included in most painkillers and cough syrups. So before you take any over-the-counter medication, please consult your physician first.
