Saga continues from Not Trustworthy :

Well… guess who came this evening.. wanting to buy stuff ..for her kids..?? Yup.. the customer who bounced the cheque. But of course.. she insisted that she checked.. and that she saw it come out on her online banking.. and blah, blah, blah. You know .. the kind.. who knows.. it is not true.. yet.. will moo till the cows come home type.

Coz’ she could jolly well pay us for it now right..?? why gotta postponed and say Monday..?? Said she will come in on Monday to settle the damn thing.. but Monday being a holiday and all.. sure got excuse lah..!! and like i said.. the bank is just round the corner.. so why the hell she cannot go get the money leh..?? I know for sure it is just an excuse.. and definitely i am not gonna see the money nor her .. on Monday.. coz’ she doesn’t have a phone, she doesn’t internet.. nothing.. and honestly, i wasn’t born yesterday lah..!

Will continue the saga when we next hear from her.. if you donch see me writing.. it means.. she didn’t come in and pay her debt. So if you think owning your own business is so great.. think again ya..! and it’s not even the money..! it’s the dishonestly that irks me so much..!

Our lil’ town just had their very first dragon boat race.. 2 weekend ago. And if you look at the picture carefully, you’ll see that the dragon boat “head” sure looks pathetic.. muahahahha!! “Long Tau” not majestic nor commanding .. how to have a real race leh….?? I also wonder if they “opened” the eye of the dragon.. before having the race..?? It’s a good effort for sure.. but not as majestic as the dragon boats we have back home.. celebrating “tuan wu jie”. Yarmouth, you have a long way to go.

Strange nobody asked me.. anything about the tradition of a dragon boat race.. and its festivals. But knowing this town.. we know they how they work.. donch we..?

Fitness buff knows that exercising and carrying weight is not enough. What a start of the day..!! Got a call from the bank.. telling us.. that a customer’s cheque got bounced..!! And to think that we were doing a good deed. It isn’t alot of money.. but still it is our hard-earned money.. and for ppl to ding us like that.. when we were being kind..! just doesn’t seem right at all…!! And we are definitely cannot and will not be kind anymore to the ppl here.. no matter who they are from now on. It isn’t even the money.. it’s the feeling of getting cheated..!! that’s what i hate most..!

Ppl here wonder why we are so bitter..?? you see lah..!! we do so many good deeds.. for customers/ex-employees.. and the ppl we meet around here .. because of our business.. but see what we get in return..??!!!?? Kenna treated like a fool all the time..!! &#$%&*^^^&##$#

Afterwhich she sat on boxes of DVDs.. and drew the other bigger spider on the left.. and told her Papa a matter-of-factly, that this was the mummy spider who loves her baby spider so much and is carrying baby spider.. muahahahahhaha!!! That was way too cute.. and it sure tickled the hell outta me.. and her Papa.

Alot of folks here that I meet claims that they cannot find a job anywheres in town or they feel that they are not hire able. Maybe, I should give back to the community by recommending them about the potential of work at home, that way they really don’t have to complain that they need to be home 24/7 for their children or they can’t find an affordable babysitter and whatever else excuses they might come up with.

Before coming to Canada.. I was intrigue.. by someone i knew.. from way back.. when i worked in the hotel industry. She is famous ok..!! so when i saw her picture of her so slim and all.. representing a slimming salon .. i of course got confidence lah..! that was like 8 yrs ago.

Till i told them to keep the $1500 for i wasn’t gonna go thru’ with the spa thing.. or losing weight.. coz’ as far as i can see.. they were only interested in my other 1500 bucks..!!

Was i pissed..?? Definitely..!! from that day on.. i never even looked into another slimming program..! it’s a matter of discipline.. when it comes to wanting to lose weight.. and you can really do it on your own.. without any supplement. And like any Japanese cucumbers.. they are sweeettt..!! and even sweeter.. that my in-laws think of me all the time. I am truly blessed.. and count my blessings everyone of them .. and daily.

Most of the men here in Canada are very hands on with everything around the house and in the house. Uncle Garth and Aunt Sandra build their home some 20 years ago by themselves with the help of some relatives. And the end result.. beautiful.. spacious and elegant. Most people do stuff themselves around the house because labor is very expensive here. This evening coming home from work. .we went by the grocery store to pick up a few things. Happy, happy we were .. because we had a really good day at the store. And we were asking Chloe to pick between her horsey ride or go for car wash.. since we didn’t have time for both. In the grocery store we were in discussing what to pick up .. so we donch miss anything.. and guess who we caught a glimpse of.. for a second..?? that sent shudders down my spine.

An ex-worker.. whom i had thought had left town by now.. but nope.. she was still around. And to think that i might have endangered my own daughter.. by entrusting my daughter to her.. to play with everyday for more than a year. My great-grandmother used to say. “know the person, know the face .. but you never know the heart!” How true.. Grandma..! how true..!

If you donch know by now.. Nova Scotia is a well known place for lobster fishing.. and anything to do with fishing. But yes.. lobster fishermen are a huge thing here. Tell the bank that you are a fisherman.. they will literally beg you to take their money.. ! muahahha!! and nope.. i ain’t joking.. it’s true..!

But folks.. you don’t have to come to Nova Scotia now.. to buy lobsters.. from Nova Scotia. Sears your furniture giant has teamed up with Clearwater Lobster from Halifax to sell you high quality shellfish. My mother have 4 kids.. she works full time.. and she did it all alone.. because my dad is a good-for-nothing.. yet we all 4 were good kids.. when we were younger. We never did what these kids here do..! like breaking into people’s houses.. or stealing cars.. or running away with boyfriends at 13. One thing i learn from my mother’s upbringing is never to nag at your kids. Learn to listen.. learn to empathize. Very important.

Line Dancing is starting again soon.. !! in a few weeks.. to be exact.. ! i read in the local papers today. Nah.. not me.. i’m not into line dancing.. but my MIL and Aunt Helena is. So what does it all mean..?? Babysitting with Grammie on Tuedays..!! Woo Hoo..!! more free time for me..!

I can’t remember if Grammie does line dancing during the winter.. but i am assuming not. But that’s ok.. between now and winter.. i’ll still get more rest… at the store.. .and Chloe can bond again with Grammie.

Apparently, the warden of Argyle, Aldric d’Entremont had announced during the Dwight Deon, Canadian Idol finalist visit home last weekend .. that on behalf of the citizens in Pubnico, a street in West Pubnico is now going to be renamed Dwights Way. And what’s more..??!!!?? He was presented with a freaking street sign..!!

OMG..!! what else is next..?? oh well.. small town.. so small mentality..?? Homeboy made good.. and a street name after him. Cool..??

This was my dinner on Monday. And yes.. I had dinner at about 8.20pm at the store. Usually we like to eat before going home.. so we can either concentrate on the brat or do housework. But as you can see.. the bread is broken.. in parts. The person who did this sandwich for me.. obviously knows and i wonder how she thinks i am able to maneuver the deli sandwich and eat it..??

And his mom thinks he has some psychological issue..?? I think not..! I think he is seeking the attention .. of his mom.. or anyone. And people here are so quick to blame everything on ADD or HDD.

Now they demand for “tough measures to be taken.. ??” things doesn’t’ happen overnite. C’mon..!! you think it is only now that your youth is bad..?? and incorrigible..?? No way..!! These ppl are making me laugh so hard..! They really fail to see the root of the problem ..! One word .. “SAD!”

My in-laws prolly needs to be the judges the next time there is a Canadian Idol.. hahahaha!! afterall, they predicted correctly that home boy not make it for another week.. and sure enough.. homeboy got kicked out.

And rumor has it that CTV ain’t gonna air his homecoming last weekend either.. ! now that’s a real bummer..!! Well.. i guess he was lucky to have gotten this far eh..? Really hope.. he makes it even better.. for the rest of the folks here.. but also .. there will be some .. who would think that they are actually better than they really are.. and waste their life.. chasing the rainbows.

Just in her lil’ corner .. amusing herself.. with whatever she has got on hand. It is amusing and amazing how smart the lil’ one can get. She just makes herself the most comfortable as ever.. and either snack on her fruits or “peepop” (lollipop) .. but i assure you this doesn’t happen often.. and when it does.. we try and leave her alone.

Remember I said.. Chloe was all into Halloween.. a few days ago.. even though we all know Halloween is quite far away still. See .. she made us buy this for her.. in the dollar store last weekend. She said she is evil Chloe.. muahahhahaha!!! We were at the grocery store.. and she is in one of the carts.. all strapped up.. being safe… that was what she wanted. What a kid eh..??

Very famous englishman who migrated to Canada.. and selling all sorts of exotic fruits.. even durian.. if you are lucky .. in Halifax. Yes.. we go there all the time.. because they have my favourite Rowntree jellytots.. which i am so into ..! now I buy them for Chloe when we go up to Halifax.

My MIL told me about this new rule at Pete’s last sunday.. and we all fear that all the other grocery stores in Nova Scotia is gonna follow suit. Quite “lecheh” lah..!! to bring your own bags and all..!! All these going green is good.. so now .. I have to go buy some environmentally friendly bags from SuperStore too.. coz’ i only got those from Sobeys. Seriously, I hope .. the grocery stores here donch follow suit.. else another headache..!! not so much for paying 5 cents.. but more like kenna look upon .. as destroying the environment.. if you donch follow suit.

We have to look for a second car for the family soon, since my lil’ brat will be going to nursery. And we don’t want to spend so much on our second car, plus you need to buy it from a reliable auto shop.

Albeit cheaper than new car, used Cars can be really tricky to buy. So how do one choose?? I am sure anyone knows that shopping for a used car complex too. And with school starting and all.. you can expect that the going back to school clothings..are currently very expensive. So I won’t be buying anything for Chloe right now. After the school reopens.. things should go on sale. This morning.. i saw a fall jacket at 30 bucks for chloe. I won’t buy it now.. because it should go on sale.. later. Not really worth buying at this price.. especially since they grow up so fast.

But as we all know.. here we donch have uniforms.. so kids buy their own clothes.. and back pack.. and whatever else .. to keep up with their peers. I wonder what Chloe would ask for .. when she goes to school.. and about 10 - 12 yrs old.. hahah!!

Guess who got a Do-Do Dora Optical Mouse today.. while getting movies.. with her Papa..??

And no.. she didn’t ask .. for it.. but I saw that it was on sale.. so i had to get it for her. (Pictures to follow, we are in the store now) It is currently at one-third of its original price.. so i just couldn’t resist a good sale.. like most woman.. hahaha!!

Most kids would scream for stuff.. but not my kid. She rarely ask for anything.. and if she does.. and we donch wanna get it for her.. she wouldn’t fuss too much either. Yes.. we pretty much lucked in on that part.

Donut lovers .. can now have healthier donuts ..!! Woohoo..!! Dunkin’ Donuts is to produce better donuts with zero grams of trans fat. Truth be told.. i still love plain donuts with sugar.. from back home.. dunked into your mamak store’s kopi - O.

Dunkin’ Donuts say.. they are not trying to make healthy doughnut but to create a better one wor.. ??!!!?? Isn’t it the same..?? playing with words lah..!! And no more trans fat in Canada..?? It says.. by 2008 restaurants in Calgary cannot have trans fat no more.. and Toronto is aiming for a similar ban. Looks like even the restaurants are asked to eliminate those trans fats from all other food too and they need to do so before July 2008.

Is Canada or the Canadians trying to be a healthier country..?? Because Singapore started it many moons ago.. ! I remember the Healthy Living Month.. and all. I was heavily involved with the Ministry of Health during the first promo year.

Curtains has never been cheap.. as far as I am concerned..unless you have wonder hands.. and sew them yourself. Workmanship is the thing that kills.. !! and even here .. when you can get ready-made ones.. without having to go to Ikea.. is still expensive.

They come in one panel for $25.00 for the good ones.. and our windows here are HUGE..!! so you prolly like need at least.. 3 panels.. meaning about $75.00 and then you have to get someone to sew up the length.. because it is TOO FREAKING LONG..!! why can’t they make curtains shorter.. to fit.. !! So after pay $75 + 14% in taxes for one room of the house.. you prolly need to pay like $30 for the sewing up..!! Arrrghhh..!!

Well.. not like home was any cheaper.. i think i paid $800 for doing the curtain for the whole house..! 3 bedrooms .. and a living room.! the living room was a long one.. with 2 layers.. the morning and nite curtains.. and the bedrooms.. were short ones.. coz’ i wanted it to be easy to wash.

So there..!! i think i really need to learn how to sew.. plus get some cheap fabrics.. from China.. because fabrics are ex here too..!! What about you ..?? how much did curtains cost for you ..??

The Dollar Store is already selling Halloween stuff… and guess who is obsessed with Halloween..?? Yes.. the brat.

Last nite .. she told Grammie she wanted to be a penguin for Halloween.. but Grammie told her in she won’t be able to sew a penguin suit for her.. coz’ she wouldn’t know how.. hhahah!!

This morning.. the brat told us..that Aunt Helena was gonna sew her .. the penguin costume for Halloween.. muahahahahha!!! and we donch know where she got that from.. because I’m pretty sure.. Aunt Helena didn’t say that..!

Aunt Helena, Uncle Garth, Aunt Sandra is leaving on Tuesday to Maine for their yearly Blue Grass Festival. Seriously, I wished my in-laws could go too.. but this is the busiest season for them.. so i know my MIL donch wanna leave my FIL on his own .. with the garden.

I think they are driving up to Maine .. in their trailer and all. From here to St John and then the ferry from Digby.. and then to Maine. According to Aunt Helena.. it’s only a 6hrs drive.. so it ain’t too bad. Did you know that the easiest way to get to Maine .. is going by the Cat ..?? I love Maine..! it’s very nice.. and the ppl there are warm. But it’s also expensive in Maine.. when we were there 3.5 yrs ago. Maybe.. when Chloe is older.. we’ll go for the blue grass thing with Aunt Helena.. with my in-laws..

We love going everywhere with my in-laws.. if you donch know by now.

I am not very much into used cars, the reason being, I am very afraid.. that it might break down as soon as I buy it and I would have to spend alot more just to get it fixed. Now that was before coming to Canada. But now that I don’t usually do the driving .. but my spouse does, he has convinced me that buying a used car is not such a “danger” as I see it. Yes, I am pretty paranoid, all because I have a young toddler who travels with us constantly.

So while looking for a second car for the family, we found a really good Ford Dealer, who was not only patient but awfully helpful towards us. Afterall, buying a car is a big purchase in my opinion.. and one don’t want to rush into anything unless you are absolutely sure. This good man.. helped us from choosing our car to the loan department and to delivering our used car right up to our house and even filled up our “new” used car for us… before going off his way.

We bought a Used Ford, it was a Ford Focus 2001 - 4 door sedan and we’ve never regretted doing so because it’s easy to drive, it’s comfortable, spacious, looks nice and sturdy .. even though it wasn’t automatic, it didn’t give us any trouble at all. Mileage wasn’t bad at all using our used Ford Focus but since moving to town, it did cost us a little bit more. Minor problems like the fuse was blown wasn’t even the fault of the Ford, so basically, we lucked in with our used Ford Focus. And if i had to choose again, I would choose the Ford Focus for sure.. and this is a true story because below you can see our Ford Focus that we’ve been using for years.

It’s amazing .. how the brat would responds to some stuff.. and answer you in a matter of factly way.. just like an adult. I wonder if it has anything to do with us… since she does pick up alot from the way we talk and act.

But at other times.. you just donch know where she gets the answers from.. or the way.. she answers us. For example.. if there was something we donch want her to do.. or eat.. she would answer you . “No.. Mom..!” in an exasperated manner.. hhahaha!! I wonder if we do that to her.. unconsciously .. or not..?? otherwise.. how would she have the funny way of saying. “No Mom..!!”

What’s your take on it..?? does your kid talk to you .. and make your jaws drop..?? muaahhahaha!! mine does..!

The brat has such a loving nature.. and her good nite ritual is always asking for kisses..and hugs.. and more kisses and hugs.. and then she would tell you .. to say . “Good nite.. Chloe..! Sweet dreams!” .. and after a good half an hour of it.. she would then settle down..and go to bed.

Of course.. sometimes she doesn’t go to bed immediately.. but she is really a very loving gal. When saying her good byes.. with her Grammie and Grampie.. and Aunt Helena.. every Sunday.. it takes a good half hour..

Wonder who she takes after.. being this loving eh.. Grammie..

Last week was the first time.. Chloe had corn on the cob.. and guess what..?? this week.. despite eating half a bowl of noodles at Grammie’s for dinner.. she wanted her corn..! After having one.. she had abit of pepsi.. and then went to Aunt Helena’s for a treat.. and wanted some more corn..!!!

If you didn’t know.. you would think the brat was starved..! but it was really good to see her eat her corn.. another food that we can feed her.. without much hassle. And she was all proud .. she fed herself.. all her noodles.. and corn.. What an attention seeker.. making sure… her Papa knows about it.

Cardboard Pizza anyone..?? I wanted to eat something different tonite but it was already late.. and given the history of this town.. and drunk drivers.. and death ..because of these irresponsible ppl.. i didn’t allow PB to go get pizza for me. So we had freezer pizza.. and it tasted really weird.. and very much like cardboard. No matter how much Tabasco sauce i put onto it.. i couldn’t stomached more than 2 pieces. But it sure looked nice.. after coming outta the oven. And yes.. PB was the one.. who got everything ready.. and into the oven.. and cutting it all up.

Is wearing sexy lingerie just because a woman wants to make their spouses happy..?? I sometimes wonder why do women have to go the extra mile to keep the relationship alive.. and going. and exciting..?? Why is it .. the men doesn’t have to do nothing..???

Maybe men should be made to wear sexy lingerie too..?? Just so we know they are also doing their part in making the relationship work. Afterall, sexy lingerie need not be expensive but affordable. I wonder if anyone would be bold enough to extend their range of lingeries for men ..??

One thing good about coming to Canada and the United States is .. you can always find clothes.. your size. No more worries about buying clothes.. or even stocking .. that is too small for you. Yes.. i enjoy this alot..! but the irony of it is.. i donch shop as much as I do.. when I was back home.

The ppl donch dress bad here.. but most are in jeans and a blouse. The weather is usually cold. .and winter is 6 months long. We are pretty much wrapped up.. and there is no showing off of legs.. even in the summer.. coz’ it’s cold. And yes… no time to leisurely shop.. and then go makan-makan.. and then buy all the goodies to much .. like we have back home.

But if you are coming to this part for holiday.. know that even if you are considered large size back home.. and can’t find clothings… over here.. you are only medium.. and the sizes goes all the way up to XXXL .. so bring lots of luggage space.. if you are a bigger woman.. and need clothings.. clothings are not expensive here.. if you come when they are having a sale.

We have been getting a regular visitor lately, and the reason why is because our customer wants to help us train chloe not to be afraid of doggie. Isn’t that sweet now..! Look how cute Gizmo is..!

I was so looking forward to Yarmouth Cup Ocean Race and it has been cancelled this year. What a bummer..!! Looks like there weren’t enough boats that registered for the race .. so the organizers cancelled it…! The race is from Falmouth, Maine and then to Yarmouth. The race scheduled for August 30th, apparently didn’t interest alot in this long-distance racing. Sad .. because this was one event that everyone look forward to every summer.. it is like the mark of the end of summer here for us.

Already tourism is so bad here.. and this.. a real bummer.. !! i have to say..!

I’ve just started to watch this yesterday… and was looking forward to it to be honest. Micheal Tao & Joey Yung is in it.. these are the ppl i liked alot…. so die, die must watch..! It’s a cop show and the beginning 5 episodes is already pretty good… so i’m look forward to finish all 30 episodes of it.

Coming to Canada is a real eye opener .. for me… because they do things differently from us.. in Asia. Now going on holiday .. is not the same ok..! not the same like staying put for years and years. For one, the garbage is dispose differently here. In Asia.. we’ve forgotten to count our blessings.. for having such efficient government.

Over here in Nova Scotia.. they’ve just implemented 3 bags for your garbage disposable. One for compost, one for recyclables and one for other. You have to sort everything out yourself. .and then it’s not everyday .. that your garbage is taken care of .. ok.. ! it’s once a week.. and it’s one week compost and one week garbage. Yes.. you have to keep all your leftover food.. or garbage for 2 weeks.. before someone comes take it away. Yup.. you heard right..!

And plus you have to sort them out properly ok.. meaning .. food gotta go into compost, plastic and paper into recyclable, and others into garbage. If you donch comply .. you can get fine ok.. or garbage not picked up. Now they are having Garbage police to police the garbage… just for this purpose. So not only PPP got police ok.. our garbage also got Garbage police ok..!

And yes.. i hate it. So donch mind me.. and my ranting..!! i wanna know .. when i can get my money out..!! Arrrghhh..!!

4am..!! and still donch wanna sleep. The first time she woke up.. i think she had leg cramps.. but 2 hrs into it.. and still refuses to sleep…!! Boy..!! if you were my neighbour last nite.. you would have certainly heard me screaming..!

She finally went to bed at 5am.. and woke up at 9am this morning.. wanting to wake me up..!! I am guessing she knew i was mad with her last nite.. before she went to bed.. so she wants me in the morning.. which is very rare. Anyhow.. i’m tired.. and exhausted.. my back hurts.. my “aunt flow” is here..!! oh well..! life goes on eh..??

PS : I donch have a maid or a housekeeper ya..!!

Last Sunday..while at Grammie’s .. i raised my voice at Chloe .. because she wanted ice cream.. after having so many treats already. The instant reaction of course.. for the brat .. was ..?? cry lah..!! and go to her Papa..!! I was in the kitchen.. and PB was in the puter room at Grammie’s .. and guess what PB did..!!

Raised his voice at me.. and told me off.. “You don’t need to raise your voice at her ..! ” I didn’t say anything.. of course.. because we were at Grammie’s house.. but a few days later.. i thought about it again.. (yah.. i’m slow.. hahha!) .. and i got angry.. because even if i did raised my voice at Chloe.. PB shoudln’t say that to me..!! because now.. she knows.. she can bully me..!!

It itches like hell. .and she has been scratching it alot. We donch know how she could have been bitten and where.

Bringing her to the doctor would only be asked .. “try to find out what she is allergic to?” .. so it’s quite useless. We are gonna monitor her.. and see if the bumps goes away on its own or not.. if not.. she is going to the docs irregardless.

Being a mother is not easy.. even though it’s just some bites.. or maybe hives..?? i still worry myself sick. I’m sure my mom was this way too.. although i keep telling myself.. she favors the boys better and couldn’t have been as worried as i am of my chloe.. but then who really knows except my mum.

2 gals came into the store a few days ago.. and tried to tell me a story about a mobile phone they picked up. There were no charger to the phone.. it was deactivated and they were trying to sell it to the store just for a few bucks.

The gals were young.. i donch think they were more than 14yrs old .. and if they had picked it up.. why didn’t they turn it in..?? and why would i buy a phone that is deactivated .. and maybe was disconnected because they owed so much on the phone… or worst stolen.

Many years ago. .when PB first started this business.. we have had ppl coming in with cellphone/mobile phone.. and trying to pawn them on us. We learned the hard way .. because with all the glamorous stories that came with it.. the phones were usually not resell able. Sure we prolly lost like 20 bucks a phone.. but it’s still money. I still cannot fathom why there are so many ppl who are doing stuff like that.. after all these years. This is such a small town.. and the gals were pretty gals too.. ! what a pity ..!

Shocked..?? Kinda..!! Constable stealing gas.. ! what to expect next from this town.. ??

Chargedwith 2 counts of fraud and 1 count of theft and 1 count of breach of trust. He is accused of filling plastic gas cans and paying for them with a government vehicle credit card. He is currently suspended WITH PAY..!! can die or not..??

We all know that as government officers .. anywheres in the world.. they actually get pay better than most ppl. Well.. here in Canada they do. The cops i know have got nicer and bigger houses than us..! and if he was charged.. how come got pay leh..?? Yes.. this is the huge human right thing .. here in Canada..! Not guilty till proven guilty thing. Things are really different here.. i tell ya.. ! Ppl born here are surely lucky i have to say.

The reason why I am concerned is because when Chloe was about 6 months old.. we brought her up to Halifax.. because I needed a check up in IWK hospital for my immigration work. The hotel that we stayed in did have a playpen .. for Chloe to sleep in .. and I think .. it’s the same that was mentioned in the news today.

Having a crappy mailbox outside your house just doesn’t say very much about the people living inside a beautiful home. Many a times.. when i drive by beautiful estates and admire their houses and their lawn, one cannot help but wonder why these people would invest in everything around the house.. except nice mailboxes. Yesterday, Aunt Helena brought back chinese packages (pictures waiting for PB to download) for me.. that’s so sweet right..?? considering .. she donch know what to buy for me.. and what is good.. and what is not. Oh .. btw.. she just got back from Toronto.. that was where she got those chinese stuff. But poor Aunt Helena .. didn’t know that we can get it here too.. in this town. But i really appreciate it.. coz’ she was thinking of me.. even when she was on Holiday.. and carried it all the way.. from Toronto back to me..

You sometimes gotta wonder ..what ppl are thinking about..?? The NSLC (Nova Scotia Liquor Corp) marketing department just announced today that they will be using Coconut Scent in selected stores across Nova Scotia.

“When we talk about liquors, mixed drinks, that kind of thing, you think of pina coladas, margaritas, so that’s why the smell of coconut.”

So here I walk into a liquor store.. and wanna go get a case of beer.. and then .. i am supposed to smell this coconut smell..and think of pina coladas..?? And then turn around .. and buy some..??

“it just helps support that whole ambience of the store”

Ok.. now i’m really confused..! ambience..?? coconut scent.. and ambience..?? ok.. now .. that’s some weird and odd thinking .. donch you think..?? “Subliminal” was the response that they have already gotten from some customers. What do you think..?? would you want to smell the scent of coconut in a liquor store..?? Personally, I wouldn’t mind.. but it does nothing for me.. if i was in a liquor store to buy a bottle of wine.. or a case of beer for my brother-in-law or father-in-law. So why waste money.. eh..??

Yesterday, while visiting my MIL .. i finally remembered to bring back her pyrex bowl that she loan me.. when she gave me some baked rice for Chloe a few weeks ago.

When i handed over the bowl to my MIL .. she said to me. ” i thought you were supposed to return the bowl with something in it..??” then she laughed. In which I replied.. “I’m Canadianized..!” muaahahhahahahahaha!!!

Yes.. i love my in-laws to bits.. coz’ they have such good sense of humor..! and nope.. i have to stress .. i’m not gonna get this with a chinese MIL and that’s for sure..!

I donch know if you are aware of it or not.. but Canadians.. loves to take their holidays in the Caribbean.. and one of the spots they go to.. on a yearly basis is Jamaica. I hear that some from Canada is stranded there.. because Air Canada had canceled some flights.

Those in Cayman Islands are stranded because flights are only operated on Sundays. And airports are closed on late Saturday nite..! I would really be devastated.. if i were there on holiday and can’t find alternative to bring my families home safely .. and what about those who have got loved ones stranded there.. and can’t do anything.. because the airport is closed..?? Can’t even hire a private jet.. to bring them home.

So say you have someone in Cayman Islands.. and no flights going there till sunday.. what would you do..?? Yes.. i would try to hire a private jet.. to bring them home. I know it’s gonna be expensive.. but i’ll do what it takes.. to bring them home for sure. Even if it means.. everything i have. What about you..?? What would you do..??

Old farts on bike.. making a road trip…?? Hilarious movie for sure..! John Travolta is OLDDDDD..!! and he has a huge belly too..!! The cast were great of course..! you have Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence and William Macy ( familiar face but donch know his name till now) and Marissa Tomei and Jill Hennessy .. very familiar too.. but donch really know who she is except she was in Law and Order familiar.

I love my house very much.. and I’ll have to tell you .. i love showing my house and my land to friends and family. Making your house beautiful inside is important.. but the outside is just as important. Afterall, impressing your guests starts as soon as they pull into your driveway.

After doing landscaping in our lawn and back yard, we decided that landscape lighting, will enhance the beauty of the work that was done. And we certainly have no regrets about it because if you remember, last year we had our deck put up and the lighting on it that we put on this year, certainly have us spending alot of time out in the deck when the weather is great.

Chloe with Keegan’s DS Lite. Kind of Keegan to leave it for Chloe to play with .. after Chloe drank all her milky from her sippy cup. And the brat is addicted to it. If you donch know.. gay marriages were legalized 2 years ago.. in Canada.

The Canadians are very liberal.. and they are mostly non-fussy ppl. As long as they are not hurting us.. that’s what they all said. I hear that some ppl from the States comes to Canada to legalize their marriage. Is it true..??

It is funny .. when you own your own business… and you chat with other business owners.. when there is news about how the town is being run. Obviously, not many business owners are happy with the things are. Just the other day.. the local papers were running the same news about tourism being beyond worst and as usual.. with us.. when another owner comes by our store.. we yak.

And we discussed.. and we cursed. .and we laughed. .and we make fun of stuff.. that are quite obvious. .. but no one wants to do anything about. And me being me.. of course.. had my say.. and guess what these owners who were at my store said..??

If you run for council.. i’m gonna vote for you .. muahhahahaha!! this is too funny..!! Why would they think that i can run for council ..?? maybe i talk too much eh..?? or the loudest in the crowd..??? Nah..i’m not crazy..! With the thunder storm last nite.. we had ppl coming into our store.. to look into because their computer got fried..! And they are ever grateful.. when PB tells them.. that it is just the power supply..because it’s the cheapest.. thing to replace. And one would thank God for their good fortune.. if that’s the only thing to get the computer up and running again.

Also with last nite’s thunderstorm.. we saw a surge of ppl coming in to rent movies. So movie and game rentals were up today too. We also sold quite a few used games today.. and some movies as well.

Some long time customers dropped in.. just to say hello.. and spend some money.. and out of towner .. also bought a few games.. and other stuff.. like glow sticks.. and fireworks. We had quite a busy day today.. and luckily .. Keegan came to babysit.

I think i should start a series of .. “My Brat Says The Darnest Things”!

Yesterday evening.. i gave the lil’ brat some grapes to eat.. and when she was done a bowl.. she came into the computer room to ask for more. But before I can asked her to count the grapes.. she said to me.. “i donch wanna count”, so I counted for her instead.. and she did follow silently with the count.

After giving her 10 more grapes.. she said to me.. “Thank you.. Mom..!! yer the best..!!” muahahahha!! now where did she picked that up from.. i’m amused.

If she asked for something and you refused to give in.. after many pleading of please, please, please, please. She would quickly change to .. “please and thank you” till you give in. And she would say it simultaneously .. “please and thank you . .please and thank you…!” you get the drift right..??

This week at the store.. as usual.. we see alot of ppl coming into the store.. to sell you just about everything.. and even the KIDS..!! yup.. i’m talking about 12 - 14 yrs old kids..!!

Yesterday .. two teenage kids came in to sell some very old children VHS ..! hear me right ok.. VHS..! just so they can get a few bucks..! I donch understand it at all..! why do they need to do that..?? when i was a kid.. we didn’t have very much money..! but we never go sell anything.. that we owned.. or given to us as gift. Donch their parents know what they are doing..??

It irks me to no end.. when i see kids starting this young.. doing stuff like that.. because i know for sure.. when they get older.. you know what they are gonna do.. right..?? try to steal from their family first.. and sell their stuff.. and then steal from their friends.. and sell their stuff.. and then steal from whoever they can ripped off.

Parents of these kids.. donch understand that it starts young.. and if you donch curb the situation .. immediately .. your kids are just going to go down the ditch. Now i am not talking about those.. who sells to upgrade or to buy something newer.. when the parents are with them. Now those kids are smart.. and taught well to bargain.. and barter and trade .. there is a lot of difference with those kids.. and those that comes in alone… or with their equally young b/f to do stuff secretly.

Is this the society’s wrong..?? or just a different culture.. from what I am used to..??

Yup.. ! the annual shark scramble is this weekend..! I’ve always enjoyed the shark scramble.. seeing the boats come in.. and the sharks getting weigh in.. it’s a magnificent sight i tell ya.

This year.. i heard that they are only allowed to bring in one shark per boat. The prize is $3000 in cash.. if i am not wrong.. but take a look at the shark that was caught in 2004.. magnificent right..??

I have never met Vien personally .. nor has she me. But I owe Vien big time.. for her generosity, her thoughtfulness, her friendship .. and her very commendable “non-judgmental” characteristic.

I’ve only gotten the pleasure of knowing Vien after we started visiting each others blog. The blogosphere is really an amazing place donch you think..?? Her unconditional friendship .. saw her going the extra mile and beyond for me.. during her work trip in Canada .. to buy me food from home.. and send it to me.. all the way from Toronto although she is in USA. And a whole boxful of it.. mind you ..!

From that act alone.. i knew .. i would be forever grateful to Vien.. and would cherish her friendship.. because .. she didn’t have to do it.. and i didn’t even asked her to. She just did it outta the kindness of her heart. Throughout our friendship.. she has been nothing but the greatest source of encouragement to me. She even took time to go online with her Belle, so that Chloe and I can see Belle. Now ain’t that sweet or what..??

One of my favorite perfume had been on sale.. for a few weeks.. now. .and i’ve already bought a bottle of it. Today.. PB was at Pharmasave.. and saw the same perfume Eternity by Calvin Klein on sale still. 50ml for 23 bucks.. + tax… very cheap hor..??

Very .. cheap.. but i already 2 bottles of the same kind.. so should i buy another or not..?? If it was many moons ago.. so no problem one.. !! buy and keep.. and donch really care what the price is lah.. but now got kid already.. so gotta think of her first lor.. ! and also here in Canada hor..everyone talk about fragrance free environment and all.. so one cannot really wear anything. But i donch care lah.. i still wear my perfume everyday.. but i do not refresh myself every few hours.. like i do .. when i was back home.

Canadian Idol is one of the biggest show here for us. I donch really watched it .. because.. PB doesn’t fancy it too, too much.. but I know my MIL and Aunt Helena watches it.

Many years ago.. when we were still at Central Street, I know of some customers who have gone up to Halifax for the audition.. and i tell you it was hard.. because the audition was right in the middle of winter.. and many years… we’ve had hard winters. But these ladies.. i so salute them.. they braved the weather.. and went up to Halifax for the audition. None have come far though .. until this year.

Everywhere you turn in town now.. if a business or a food place.. or even at your regular hair dresser.. you have signs up.. saying.. “Vote for Dwight!”. Yes Dwight d’Eon has come along way.. home boy made good.. i called it. He is from Pubnico about 30 mins drive from where I am. So he is close .. i’ll say..! I hope Dwight wins.. at least top 3 .. because I know of some ppl around here .. who is rooting for him.. ! And i really wanna see someone make good here.. that way.. potential performers have a chance.. and not just a dream too far to reach.

Hang on a minute..!! we ain’t that romantic.. lah..!! the anniversary we are talking about .. is our store’s anniversary.. lah..!! “pontong steam” eh.. muahahhahaha!!

8 yrs in business.. and 7 yrs in Canada… it’s a very long time indeed. I haven’t been home.. and i miss home alot.. and miss the food more. Well.. i’m sure you all know by now anyways.

So yes.. 8 yrs in business.. from a clearance center .. to what we are today. PB bought out his ex-partner.. after 6 months into opening this store.. and of course he acquired a free/instant partner .. who became an owner by association ONLY. No easy feat to carry on a business for 8 yrs.. ! we have our ups and downs.. and of course.. “GREAT” ex-workers in the past. There are perks with being your own boss of course.. and that’s no more time for yourself anymore.. ! everything you have or own.. will indirectly go back to the store.

Do we have a luxurious life..?? owning your own business.. ! Jeez .. no..!! far from it..!! But you know what our biggest mistake was..?? Hiring too many ppl to man the store.. and thinking that they will have a sense of ownership.. and help you make money because it never happened for us. Everyone that we’ve ever hired.. except for Mike and Ryan from Halifax.. expects us.. to just keep giving.. and when we are tired of taking their nonsense… they decided that we are “BAD ASS” employers.

This grocery store is at Port Maitland.. where my in-laws lived. PB grew up .. buying penny candies from this store.. and it’s near the beach. There are many grocery stores like these all over Yarmouth County… and now that Chloe is alot older.. we too bring her here for her weekly snacks. Last week.. Grammie brought her here for some chips.. and this morning.. while i was putting this picture into photobucket.. guess what the brat said..??

Yup.. she remember this store.. and said.. this was where she got her chips.. and that grammie brought her here.. last week. What good memory eh..?? It’s amazing.. this kid of mine..!

For those have been married for a long time like I have.. we all know that .. things become a routine.. and we all become so busy.. we forget all about being romantic.. and dressing up… for your spouse/partner. Tell me you are not guilty about it..?? I am.. ! Well .. don’t wait .. till your partner/spouse find you boring and start looking for something more exciting out there.

Try little things like the open tip bras, in your bedroom rendezvous and surprised him and give him some excitement to brag about to his pals and co-workers. It is really funny come to think of it.. ! my brat does not speak like i do.. !! and you know what..!! i make it a point.. to speak as Singlish as possible.. with everyone here.. in Y-Town.. because i donch believe in being “ang moh” pai..! (slang, slang).

Some words the brat still can’t pronounce properly.. but both PB and Keegan takes great effort in correcting her.. and teaching her properly..! as for me.. i let it be.. because i think she is just a kid (my excuse for being lazy. .muahhaahha!).

And so .. if you ask her something.. and she doesn’t want it.. or agree with you .. she would say.. “Nah..!” exactly like PB and my MIL ..hahha!! that’s how they talk .. at times. And what i donch understand is this.. i spend almost 24hrs a day with the brat.. and she doesn’t speak anything like me..!! Wailllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll..!! why. .oh why..???

Good real estate agent are hard to come by. The ones that i’ve come across have not been the best. Either they are too lax or they become overly enthusiastic for the other party.

In my humble opinion a good real estate company or agent is someone who professes alot of patience and is there to give you their honest advice and share their expertise with you .. without just thinking of making you sell or buy quickly. It would be nice also for the real estate agent to have a huge listing for you to choose from and also be able to get an appointment quickly to view the listed houses as soon as it’s on the market.

Many a times.. we have to look out for potential houses on our own.. we contact the real estate agent.. and then he comes back.. and tell you the house that we were interested in is sold. Now that’s a real bummer eh..? But having said that.. I know that there are some good real estate agent out there and I hope when I need to buy or sell a house, I will be fortunate enough to meet their acquaintance.

As much as I empathized with this couple/customer.. i fail to see how they can blame their neighbor for stopping them while he was driving illegally and an alien in Canada. As much as I know that the emotional baggage .. that comes with one to be banished from the country.. and asked not to return till a year later.. with proper documentation, to rejoin his family here.. they should know that this is the law.. and they have to abide by it right..??

Yes.. he has children here .. with a Canadian woman.. but he has been here for 2.5 yrs now.. and without proper documentation and an extension of his stay.. and no work permit .. so he hasn’t worked for the last 2.5yrs.. while i bet his woman.. is on welfare.. or some sort of assistance.

You all know .. the limited ingredient I can get for cooking my chinese food here right..?? Yes.. yes.. i’m like a broken record.. and i should just keep quiet about it.. and make the best outta it. Anyhow.. like usual .. after coming back from the store.. today.. i took out whatever i can find in the fridge .. and started to prepare food for the brat. If you donch know.. my brat DOES NOT eat outside food..!! she only eats rice and noodles…!!!

Well.. i threw in some chicken.. and leftover beansprouts and shredded carrots and tofu.. and stir-fried them altogether.. with oyster sauce.. and have rice cooked for the brat. She started eating bean sprouts a few months ago.. and never protested if i cooked it this way.. and have lots of gravy.

Tonite while feeding her.. she said to me.. “Give me tofu, Mum..!!” when she didn’t see the tofu.. in her spoonful of rice and chicken..! Yes.. she will take her food.. if she has tofu.. and mushrooms..! If you have tofu and/or mushroom.. you can be assured that she will finished all her food. My in-laws cannot fathom what’s the reason for it.. and neither can i, but it’s a really good supplement for meat.. because she doesn’t eat alot of it. Can you tell me why she would love tofu this much..??

A Taste of Home by TVB .. is about restaurant and cuisine in Hong Kong. Did you know that I love food.. and i would watch any food show. A few year ago.. they have the battle of the chef.. and i followed it really closely. I just finished watching 2 episodes of A Taste Of Home.. and I loved it. So far they’ve introduced a french restaurant, a korean restaurant and also a japanese restaurant. A Taste of Home, is mostly about the authentic taste of various food from different countries, abit like food you can only taste in your mother’s kitchen.

I’m not gonna finished watching all of it at one go.. i’m gonna take my time..and might even copy some recipes down.. if i have the time. Watching food show is like reading food blogs.. you’ve gotta enjoy it slowly..

This was my dinner last nite. I kid you not .. when i tell you .. i have nothing to eat here.. !! does this look appetizing to you ..?? I bet not..! This sandwich is from Subway.. I had an egg and ham sandwich.. because .. i really didn’t want tuna .. or a italian meatball sandwich .. too messy.. while at the store.

Everyday.. for lunch and dinner.. if we are at the store.. we are at a lost of what we should eat. Everyday.. PB and i.. asked each other the same “sian” question. “Wach you want for lunch/dinner..??” So for those who are thinking of migrating.. please.. please please.. make sure..you find a town that serves all kinda food.. and not like my “Ulu” town..! 7 years.. here..!! you can imagine.. how i feel about the limited food here..!! If it ain’t pizza.. it’s sandwiches.. if it ain’t sandwiches.. it’s mediocre chinese food..!!! Those in Asia.. be thankful that you are there.. because food are cheap and good there..! If i can turn the clock back.. PB would be going to Singapore with me.. !!!! muahahahhaahha!!!

I love Sydney because it’s one of the most vibrant city .. that I’ve lived in for 6 months. Why did i lived in Sydney..?? I was working there.. helping out in the start up of a new hotel in Sydney near the harbour front. We were brought in as a task force to help with recruiting, doing standard of procedures and training sessions for new employees at that hotel but that was many years ago, and i would love to revisit Sydney once again soon.

My brat loves picking me flowers. Just the other day.. she picked just one flower for me.. and had Keegan her babysitter put water and the flowers into the vase for me.. and waited for me.. to come home. .and told me this.. “i picked flowers for you .. mum..! Look see..!!”

I just got back from the store.. and yes.. i was indeed touched.. and it sure warmed my heart. The Killams love giving and picking flowers. My FIL always picks nice smelling ones for my MIL .. so romantic eh..?? And as for PB.. not so.. romantic.. but he does encourages the brat to pick flowers for me.. so that’s ok.. lah..

So in the tradition of the Killam family.. my brat has learned how to pick flowers for her love ones…

Chloe having 2 hashbrowns for breakfast at MickeyD .. yesterday. Normally, she has a real hard time finishing even one. She only loves her noodles and rice. But these days.. since the weather is so warm, and whenever we managed to get up early enough on Sundays, we try to bring her out to eat… so she can at least have some different food.. and not just home-cooked food. But yes.. she loves her tofu.. hates meats..and broccoli .. but would eat shredded carrots and bean sprouts.

With more and more problem with addiction not only with younger people but even older folks that I’ve met in this town, one would be glad to have a drug rehab nearby to help those loved ones of ours.

OMG..!!! yah.. yah.. this is the poorest week .. in this town.. because welfare cheques ain’t out yet. But selling me.. like 100+ PS2 games.. for even 3 bucks a piece.. is gonna cost me like .. say.. close to 400 bucks..!!!

And then those who wants to trade games.. !! yah..yah..!! we advertised that we do trades.. !! but hey.. !! wake up..!! we donch trade one for one..!! otherwise we eat what..?? fresh air ka….???

And then there are those who wants to buy a game system.. and insist on getting it today.. because their kids cannot lived without it.. but got no money to pay for the system today.. and wants to pay by post dated cheques..!!! AIYOH..!! ALAMAK..!!!

And then lagi lah .. better still.. there are those who would popped into our store.. and tell PB this.. “Hey.. PB .. !! if i give you something to hold on to.. can you spare me 20 bucks.. till next week..?? ” Aiyoyoh..!!! So what are we now..?? cannot even say we “tai yi long” because he expects to get back his stuff for the amount of money he asked from us. So cannot charge interest either. So what are we huh…?? you tell me lah..!!!

Folks here goes to Walmart to get stuff .. when they have the money.. but when they donch have the money.. they expect us to return the courtesy that they gave to Walmart..!! Where got meaning..!! WE AIN’T SUCKERS..!!

This is not a paid post!

Ever since Chloe was born, i cannot help but keep thinking of buying her insurance.. and other funds to invest in, so that she can be ensured or assured of a better future and not struggle like some of her peers would.

But because of running a business.. and having to constantly due with ex-employees .. who did not helped us but had given us so much trouble, we had to shelf the idea everytime. By the way, I have to tell you that Chloe’s dental and medical is covered by the government here till she is 16 yrs old. Therefore, what i am thinking is her beyond 16 yrs old.. and also her education fund. Education is expensive here.. if she wants to go to college, and i really do not want my kid to start off live with a debt.

So yes.. coming back to her insurance and a sorta trust fund. We had just spoken to PB’s insurance fella.. and he had given me some options. I am seriously considering it. So I am asking all of you to give me your opinion. What do you think is the best kinda insurance or investment plans for your kids..?? do you have one already..?? if not why are you not getting it..?? Or am i the most paranoid mum around..??
